Default DOOM III Vs. Half Life 2 Engine Wars

In this topic i would like to find out which engine ( doom III or Half Life 2 Source) do u guys feel more comfortable with i.e. which ones graphics, effects, physics, AI, etc. is better

personally i like the source engine which powers Half Life 2 because i think the one which powers doom III is kinda overdone with the graphics... the character like plastic action figures while Half life 2 characters are much more believable ...

also for a direct comparison i have uploaded some images for u guys to view
plz note that the images are from different games that are developed using the said engines

The doom 3 engine. The lighting effects are simply superb.

this has already been discussed many time, plz search before posting

Both the engines are good & both bad,

hl2 is good for outdoor sceans, sunlight, while D3 is good for indore, so it depends on the game being made, to clerify which is better

The Half-Life engine is a lot more versatile and has far better physics than the Doom 3 engine. That's not something you can see in screenshots.
The screenshots you have linked too are really bad. They don't do justice to either game engine.

I am not quite sure about that physics part.........all the objects in Half Life seemed a bit too light....never got the feel of a heavy barrel or a small barrel...........Doom 3 on the other .........the physics ( which ever U can move by the way ) were more in my opinion good.Check ROE physics with the Gravity gun ( Called as some plasma levitation ..god knows what name) .........will seem much better than Half Life 2.

here I'll go for D3 engine... but amongst the current crop of games.. I'll say that the F.E.A.R engine is the best graphics engine till date.

this topic is already present in the gamerz section , and lot of flaming too was done last time in such topic .

for the engines , before commenting anything upon the doom3 engine abt being good only for indoors see the 'enemy territory : quake wars' screens. but yes the chracter models made in source engine are better and lifelike then made in doom3 engine, and this is the +thing for the hl2 engine . imo both engines are good in their ways .

if we compare games based on both engines then hl2 was waayyyyy better than doom3 (visually doom3 was better though), and the upcoming games on doom3 engines look all the same(prey/quake4) no varity , quake4 will be disappointing(but sure better than doom3), i saw the quake4 vid/screenshots every thing looks plastiqy and the outdoor environments suck. Mars is not made of plastic or metal i think ....very bad .
on the other hand see the screens/videos of 'enemy territory :Quake wars' which is based on the same doom3 engine , it looks lifelike and has quality outdoor levels .

upcoming games on source are intresting
sin
aftermath
day of defeat

on doom 3 engine
quake4
prey
enemy teritory : quake wars

I will reserve my comments on the FEAR till the point the game releases.........the engine did not do justice to itself considering its requirements .....my 6800GT framed a bit on 1280 resolution ( bought a 710N.....cannot go anywhere below the native resolution)....though the AI was great.

@aceman: You can very well run your LCD below the native resolution. I run mine at 800x600 when playing Doom 3 even though the native resolution is 1680x1050. Don't stress your system just so that it can run a game at the native resolution of the display!
