CS 1.6 or CS:Source?
Hello, CS Noob here with a request for advice. Hope you guys don't frag me about before pushing me to the answer.

I'm thinking about getting CS on Steam but a bit vague on whether I should get 1.6 or Source. I have a decent PC to run source so I guess the requirements do not matter. I would like to know what you guys think.

Re: CS 1.6 or CS:Source?
I've been playing CSS for the last 5-6 years. About 3 years back I switched to CS 1.6 but couldn't cope with the crappy graphics and so came back to CSS. Experts might say that CS 1.6 has a better gameplay. Its much popular than CSS too. But I personally prefer CSS as I started my CS journey on that and I really love it.
So I'd suggest you to try out both the versions and choose the the one you like rather than going with the opinion of the majority. I guess both the versions wouldn't make considerable differences in gameplay. Good Luck

Re: CS 1.6 or CS:Source?
CSS has got better gfx.It runs on Valve Source Engine.
But gfx hardly matters now, for games like Counter Strike.
Its all the way fun.
I am stuck to CSS anyways.HCL ME | Intel i3 310M | 320 GB | 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz |

Re: CS 1.6 or CS:Source?
I am addicted to CS 1.6 because when I started playing, I played on cracked servers and in those days nobody hosted non steam CSS servers.. so no experience in that game.

Re: CS 1.6 or CS:Source?
Personally I prefer 1.6 but I'd say CSS not so bad either. Hard to get used to if you started out in 1.6 (and vice versa).

I would say Op should keep playing both - giving equal time to each - both are good

CS:S has no Indian gamer base. Online servers are always empty.
