PS3 vs xbox 360

I want to purchase a new console.I am confused between xbox 360 and PS3.I will mostly play third party games on the console as i am new to the console gaming world.As i will be buying the latest versions of ps3(i.e. slim version) or xbox 360 slim.

Also,i want to know which platform has cheap games.I dont think there is much difference of performance between them,so i will be looking for a cheaper option

Buy a ps3, its better than x360. Why do you want to mod your console its illegal. Btw what display you will be using?

^^^i want a console that fulfils my requirements :-

1. It should have cheap games

2. I will playing 3rd party games,so it should have good gameplay for 3rd party titles

3. It should be reliable for long term use

4. I won't be playing online,so online gameplay do not matter much

Neither the PS3 nor X360 have cheap games. You'll have to shell out around Rs.2000 to Rs.3000 approximately. PC games however , are cheap.

Hardware wise, the PS3 is clearly superior.

Both are equally good and serve the same purpose. Now both can be tampered with but that is illegal

Check which controller you are comfortable with etc. getting a PS3 with a 250-320 GB HDD or even the 160GB one will be good for you.

I have a factory state PS3 250GB. @18500 I have bought games worth 24000/- already so its a huge expense.

Well the thing is it depends on OP's requirements because Kinect is mainly for casual gamers and hardcore gamers don't get much from it.

1. Console games are always around 2k to 3k, unlike most of the pc games which would be around a thousand
2. 3rd party games? ofcourse x360 is way to go!
3. Depends on how you use it, x360 used to suffer from RROD a while back, I think its rectified now.
4. You should try online gameplay sometime, its a hell lot of fun.

And btw, have you tried Kinect? I'd found it a little lame in the beginig like a lot of people here, you know, ignoring it coz its casual but hey, believe me the fun factor with the kinect games is way better than the main stream games these days. And from what I'd seen at E3, more and more AAA games are going to get kinect support, not completely depend on it, but as a add-on eg-ME3
So If I were you, I'd go for an x360. Its upto you anyway.

Lol, dont categorise Kinect as casual just because the initial releases were focused on casual audience. Have watched E3? who know what microsoft will do in the future?

Yeah I saw E3 and was impressed by Kinect but not that much.

I liked the Voice recognition feature from me3. Yeah, even a normal mic could do that if MS wanted it to..lol.

Exactly. Hell I have even played HAWX with mic and worked fine for me. If they want to implement Kinect then there should be something like I don't know special??? Just voice recognition is nothing innovative its there for a long long time.

^^^ I am not a big fan of kinect or move,also don't have enough money to spend on it.I just want to play latest games like cod,crysis2,la noire etc.Will be looking forward to playing online.BTW i have a 512kbps internet connection.I have some questions though :-

1. Is online gameplay free in ps3 while we have to pay for it in xbox 360??

2. Can i purchase used games for ps3 and how much they cost??

3. I am slightly inclined towards ps3(due to its blue ray player and free online gameplay).Does ps3 games cost more than xbox360??

4. What is price of ps3(all versions)??

Games cost the same in both platforms. Used can be around 500-1500 depending on the game. Psn is free. Dont know about xbox live. I think ot is paid.

Both the consoles are same in many aspects. Just pic one which you like.

I wont change my advice, as of now I am still with XBOX 360.. Only thing I regret on XBOX360 that I can't play few SONY's proprietry games like GOD oF WaR .. but xbox title's are easily available.
