I get sluggish (like only 10) frame rates playing Far Cry even on my system having 2.8 GHz, 512 DDR and 128 MB ATi 9000. I am wondering that how come u can play in 1024X768 with 2Xaa enabled and I am not ?

Well, Far Cry at high settings and Doom 3 in lowest work fine in my AMD 2500+ Athlon, 512 MB Ram, ATI Radeon 9200se.
I think 256 MB ram should do fine for Far Cry but Doom 3 does require a minimum od 512 mb if you want decent frame rates.

You can definetly opt for 256MB DDR ram at that price.Plus if you add a lil more you can directly get a Transend's 512MB DDR 400Mhz ram for Rs.2.5k.These games atleast require a decent 512MB ram for a lagless play.A 1GB ram upgrade wont hurt either as it will make you sercure for a long time in future and a graphic card upgrade like a 6600Gt would be a complete Icing on the cake and would perfectly complement your current rig.

512: now your talking
1gb: now your fragging!!
512 should do fine.

ati9000 is the answer the card is the bottleneck ur sys is better than i have(p4 2.4/512MB ram , when i played farcry i had only 256 mb of ram) , btw u should try to switch to the 'opengl' mode from the 'd3d' mode by editing the .cfg file in the bin folder of the game(i cant remember the name of the file, must be game.cfg or system.cfg). this will increase the framerates .
i played doom3 on 800x600 resol at high quality ingame settings with 2xq aa enabled. i got 28-35 fps . all credit to www.tweakguides.com
played hl2 @ 1024x768 with ingame 4xaa and 4xaf with 512 mb of ram at high ingame textures and settings got 30-45fps . hl2 is bad dream on 256 mb of ram ....lot of stuttring.
www.tweakguides.com has guides for all the above thre games and some others too , before playin a game i tweak the settings a lot to gain best from my rig . so i recommend u to see the far cry guide on that site.
