Question about Steam?

If you purchase games from Steam, will they provide you the game files or installation files?

Why i am asking this is because, once i purchased the game, then i can store the backup and use it whenever i need?

Steam doesn't provides you any installation files, setup files, etc. It directly installs the game & those dlls, exe files necessary to run the game. If you want to make a backup, then the Backup option is just a right click away.

Download the game through Steam. Steam will "install" it automatically.

You can take back-ups and store on your hard-drive or burn on DVDs.

But yes, you need to be logged into Steam to play games. Offline mode is also there.
