Default Please recommend some games

Hi, I am not much of a gamer but do want to game to unstress and relax sometimes. So please tell me the names of some games. All genres would do (except those zombie killing ones). Even old games would do.
Thanks

If you want games that will give Awe instead of frustration, then.. play Prince of Persia games.. not that they aren't stressful, but you can enjoy them.

And play Some racers like NFS MostWanted and Openworld games like GTA San Andreas.

There are 5 main games. I will recommend starting from scratch if you care for story.. although first one has more frustration levels. So, if you are not looking for challenges skip the first one(Sands of time).

Start with Warrior Within. If you are open to few levels of frustration, then.. Sands of Time. That frustration pays off though. After these two, there is this 3rd game The two Thrones. 4th one Prince of Persia 2008 (really really cool game, pretty easy one... but will free your mind, AFAIK. But a bit high on system requirements). The recent one is The forgotten sands. You can skip this one.

Platforming is the main part, next comes solving puzzles and combat.

In Prince of Persia 2008 combat dose is very low.. more focus on platforming and vistas. I will recommend you playing this one. As this is not connected to any previous or latter games. And, the concept is novel.

like.. there will be walls to climb, ledges to shimmy, gaps to jump, hooks to grab, pillars to grab onto, ceilings to perform gravity defying maneuvers, and finally there is this chick elika who will increase the reach of your jump.

Seen?

Don't mind my babbling but Prince of Persia is undoubtedly an extremely frustrating game, specially for beginners, sands of time almost made me break my keyboard in half, if you want games that are just relaxing try strategy games, age of mythology is undoubtedly the best, very relaxing, slow paced and easy to play.
Also you can try Halo, its a nice and easy game to play.

But non the less pop are very good games indeed(specially the first three).

POP:WW is even more frustrating. I rate POP:SOT much lower on difficulty. Strategy games requires too much attention.

I will say play Indigo Prophecy. This one is a cool game.

And perhaps Tomb Raider Legend, Underworld etc. Just awesome exploration and damn it's Lara

Also, if you like mayhem then Prototype is the one. Pure fun !

Borderlands is fun too. Serious Sam if you gonna do mass pawnage with hordes of enemies undulating your vision.

Borderlands isn't that funny when on a single player campaign. We feel alienated in that Pandora. If it is Co-Op, then we are talking about a whole different experience.

And +1 for Indigo Prophecy. Novel concept, Amazing story.. But it has it's frustration levels too. Especially that flashback episode. If possible get Fahrenheit. It is the British unrated version of Indigo Prophecy. Comes with out any strip downs.. yes I'm talking about mini-sex games, full female nude models, moans, etc. Just what quantic dreams is famous for.

I found SoT more frustrating than Warrior Within. But 2008 was pleasant.

Pick up this new Bond game, 007:Blood Stone. It's not frustrating but loads of fun. As Faun and Vamsi mentioned, Indigo Prophecy is also a pretty interesting game. Will keep you hooked till the very end.

Batman Arkham Asylum is great too, if you're into action-adventure games. If you have the slightest interest in Batman (who doesn't after The Dark Knight), you will love this game.

Try these out first and let us know if you liked them.

Please...Sims 3.
Nothing's more peaceful to soul than to make your hydrophobic sim swim for food...
.
I'd suggest calm 'build em up games' like sims, or any tycoons.
Has any1 played casino inc?..
I played demo of it when i ws vry young...assume 2-3 moths old...

Braid is not simple jumpin and play.. It requires constant time investment + scratching head trying to figure out that mind bending puzzles. It is extremely frustrating.. and it pays off when we find the way.

I hate Sims and other games of this type.

The last time I played offline game was MW2. Played 3-4 missions and deleted it. The game looks awesome but missions are very confusing for me. But I play urbanterror sometimes.

^^ consider buying the Orange Box then. www.nextworld.in

Half Life 2, HL2: Episode One, HL2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. All classy games. At Rs.699 it is the best deal ever.

You'll need Steam and when you play for the first time. Updates might be irritating for you if you don't have an UL connection.

Company of Heroes - One of the best RTS I've played. The single player campaign is freakin' good. The multiplayer I've heard is brutal but considering the lame connection I have I can't try it out.

It will I think. And it is a very good.. I mean, very very good game. It is not a Hardcore RPG title, They stripped most of the RPG elements and introduced plenty of action. Go for it. But it will take you nearly 25-30 hours to complete the Single Player campaign.

Hey are we still on with 'I am not much of a gamer' tagline you gave at start of your thread??
.
Cause quite frankly, mw2,cod, me2,fallout3 types are not 'non-gamers' type as such.
.
So if you are into those games, then you are as crazy and socially unacceptable person like the rest of us gamers posting on this thread are. On that note, i'd like to add that there are dozens of games that fuel my gaming needs. But at end of the day when i am done finishing a game i play for 12 straight hours, i am like,'bring on the sequeal b!tches'. And not, 'wow...nirvana'.
.
I mean if you want to peace your mind then should'nt you just take your dog on walk.
.
If you truely wish to get relaxed on computer, then play minesweep. Or thousands of mini flash games that you can come across on internet while searching +18 material.
Or play mspaint.exe, its a fun game..
World of goo likes.
.
.
And i couldn't care less for you choice of games, but sims3 is something i played after my divorce and it was quite a moment for me when i set my sim-wife on fire...ahhh...triumph.

I dont think its right to compare mw2 with sims, is it?
Two completely different generes.
.
As for newbees, if you are talking bout those who lack sufficient hand-eye, mouse-keyboard coordination which games require, then would'nt mw2 would be a disaster for them??
Yeah they do need to start with something but hugely intense army war games are quite overwhelming for those who have hard time controlling mouse and keyboard as same time.

Who compared sims with MW2!

No, i don't know how many people you have introduced to gaming.. But every one i introduced to gaming felt right at home in Arcade racers(MW), Arcade Fighters(Tekken, Street Fighter). And, yes.. first person shooters, as well. If he had never touched computer before, then FPS would be a night mare for him.. if he is familiar with mouse movement, then.. he is good to go for easy mode. Believe me, I've seen may kids(in my friend's gaming parlor) quite happily and mindlessly shooting every body(even the team mates.. and they wonder why the is ended) and they didn't complained anything about the game mechanics.I Just recommended Sims to few gamers there, who are not new to gaming, btw.. they virtually ran way. after first 5 mins.
