Gaming on 47" LCD with full 5.1 DTS audio

Guys

Just bulit a NEW Home Theater with a 47" LCD, installed Win 7 x64 on my rig and updated the GFX to HD5850 and playing COD-4 MW-2 and SHIFT (with MS Xbox controller) and I am FU*KIN LOVING it.......NEVER NEVER in my entire gaming life I have enjoyed gaming than this setup, Full 5.1 (DTS audio), Graphics details to Full with full AA and AF and resoilution set to 1980x1080 Full HD and I am have a kick ass of a time. This is what is called gaming man!!!, Bang!! explosions and gorgeous visuals of COD-4 MW-2 and I am out of words to express the shear pleasure.

I am short of Games after I complete these two need suggestions specifically want to know which games support full 7.1 DTS MA (not just DTS) sound track so that I can take full potentioal of my HT.
How is Resident Evil 5 and DIRT 2 .....any good action FPS game which is getting popular these days I can try.........

PS :: Also Name a few good DX11 games as well as 5850 is DX11. I think Dirt 2 is DX11

I would love to visit your place once & get a feel of the thunderous bass from the woofers alongwith the gorgeous eyecandy on such a huge screen.

Regarding games, you should definitely play Crysis & crysis Warhead on that system. RE 5 & Dirt 2 is good too.

You are most welcome G5, anytime you visit Delhi do come to my house. I already have played Crysis Warhead, Yea Crysis I can try, I did not play initially on my 8800GT as was not getting enough frams to actually enjoy the game. Lets see if 5850 gives some better results......

I am etching to try Dirt 2 as its DX11. Need to search more DX11 games.....

Mass Effect 2 for sure! The environments are awesome. Audio? It's one of the best! With ye'r setup it sure is more than awesome.

With at setup, Crysis will look prettier than real-life . Crysis is a MUST!

BTW. congrats for that killer setup!

For DX11 games:
Battlefied: Bad Company 2 [Mar. 2. Don't ever miss it]
Aliens vs. Predator [Feb. 16]
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat.
And DiRT 2. It doesn't make much of difference though, in DX11.

Is Assasins Creed DX11, its a TPS right, heard a lot about the game never tried......

I am in Ghaziabad actually, and you can drop any weekend man most welcome if Ghz is not too far from your place. Bring along games as well you wanna try......

Mass Effect 2....mmmm how about Bioshock 2, saw some snap shots for the same and it looked gorgeous.....I actually did not like ME 1 much, I left the game somewhere in the middle....... anyway will give it a shot....

You are welcome as well......infact couple of Delhi Game freaks can if possible coordinate among them selves we can plan a gaming meet at my house I also have a Lan setup with my bro bring along games will enjoy firing up couple of them and test on my Rig with multiplayer as well......

Guys I completed SHIFT (COD 4- MW-2 is still going) and I installed DIRT 2 yesterday, now I am not sure if its DX11 (no comparision to comment actually) or the game itself is bloody gorgeous in detail, its comming spectacular on my 47" 1080p resolution. Played vof couple fo hours and I can say its a beauti, game is bit difficult as compared to SHIFT, or maybe its Dirt Rally so ought to be tough, but with some practice you seriously start to built the hang of it. Hwever I would still rate SHIFT over it (maybe it just me) but no doubt visuals are unmatched.

LOL.. 7.1 Channel games? Even most of the Hollywood movies don't go that far

most of the gaming sound effects will not be DTS or Dolby certified IMO. Most of the games are backed by Environmental audio extensions alias EAX or Open AL which is from Creative technologies. So, it will be a great if you have a x-fi range sound card.

Even most of the games are not EAX advanced HD audio certified... take a look at this chart..

Another Interesting Sound certification is THX, Obliviously to take THX advantage your Sound card and Speakers should be THX certified array of devices.

And most of the games in windows environment are simply DirectSound 3D Audio certified. Which is a technology developed by Microsoft

You are so very wrong on that last part.....
Well I have played 3 games yet on my this setup yet..... 1. SHIFT 2. COD 4 MW 2 and 3. DIRT 2 and all of them have proper Dolby Digital 5.1, my AVR clearly shows multichannel PCM over HDMI on display. Also I am not drawing audio from sound card, its coming stright from HDMI connected to my HD5850, all I had to do was to configre Windows 7 sound properties to 7.1. Test also confirms its configured properly as all channels played the test demo sound distinctily from each of the 6 speakers and the sub.
Infact keeping all this aside, I can actully feel the sorround channels giving the engine sound of any car that overtakes mine from behind (awsome feeling BTW) so I have no doubt the Hardware is configured properly. All I need are games that have native 7.1.

Ok I did a small research online and found out this awsone thread that discuesses Multichannel audio for PS3 titles. I presume audio should work the same for PC titles as well.

One interestring thing to note is while COD-4 MW is 7.1 PCM MW-2 is only 5.1strange. Any way SHIFT and DIRT both are native 7.1 according to the list so I presume I am already playing what I want, probably that is why the engine sound from behind was so realistic (as both surround and surround back were giving the distinct output).
Will try Bioshock 2 or AvP next.....m excited

^Also get Mass Effect 2 + DLCs. You are gonna love it, even on my cheap 8600GT+Core2Quad+3gb ram rig it delivers KICKASS gfx and in your rig i am sure it'll pop your eyes off your head. And Congo.

I didn't said that there is wrong with your windows sound configuration.

Sorry, I was wrong. There were few games like Avatar, Dark Void, etc that are dolby certified. But none of them are 7.1 channel supported.

Call of duty 4: Modern warfare only have 5.1 channel audio - source

Dirt 2 has 5.1 channel output - source

I dunno about shift.

And most of the PS3 games support 7.1 Channel this will be obvious in case of exclusives.

If you are hearing the sounds in 7.1 channel in the games.. All the best, your Speakers, Audio solution is working fantastically, by converting native 5.1 audio into 7.1 audio.

But I still think that most of the games come with XAudio 2.

Well even if they are 5.1 DD they give an awsome experience, atleast you agreed that games are DD 5.1 as against to your initiall post that was suggesting something else. According to Gamespot many games listed are shown 5.1. My AVR must be conveting DD in to DD EX ie from 5.1 to 7.1. Anyway native 5.1 is immersive enough specially with EX. But I still doubt there is no native 7.1 game, will search more and see.

Hey guys.....Completed COD 4 MW 2 and now started Left 4 Dead 2 and I am happy to say that I finally found a game that has 7.1 native sound track. L4D-2 has native 7.1 sound track and playing the game with lights off gives you an awsome thrilling an creappy experience.........well made sequel and equaly engrossing......enjoying every bit of it.......

Guys completed Left4Dead 2 and I MUST say awsome game man simply awsome. This game is better than Left 4 Dead. AWSOME creapy environment, commendable graphics. .......one point ...game is fu*kn difficult at the hardest level mailly because there are no checkpoints as such, if you die the entire level starts all over again, makes the game DAMM difficult. I was just able to do first chapter on hardest level. Second one on second hardest and third/forth I could only do at the normal level. There is a chapter called "HARD RAIN" ...... one of the best level design I have seen after COD 4- MW -2. The entire level is in Rain and thunderstrome which greatly adds to the terror of zombie world. Believe me its a must play game for all Hard Core action fans.
The final finalley of the game takes place on a Bridge which you have to cross to reach the rescue, and believe me man.......I had to fight my ass off to reach at the end that too after 3 tries (playing at Advance difficulty) but what a gruesome battle it turns out to be, dozens n dozens n dozens of zombies coming from all directions and the combination of your shotgun/colt commando with the HT Woofer .......Gaming Bliss Man!!! Gaming Bliss...
