Hey guys, I am asking a pretty dumb question. But please answer.


1) I want to buy Intel Core 2 Duo (/Extreme) processor with minimum 2.8GHz speed and MSI P45 Neo-F mobo. I am particular about this mobo as it has lots of features at a cheaper price. But please recommend a good processor with minimum 2.8 GHz. Budget- 15k for cpu and mobo. Please recommend a good one so that I may not have to buy 1 set in another, say, 4 yrs...... LOL

2) Along the above said parts, i am also buying a graphics card. But here, i don't want to spend too much as I may buy another one in 2 yrs time. So please recommend me a good card within 5k. I should also tell you that currently I have a 450W SMPS delivering 12V/18A. So also keep in mind that I don't have to buy a new SMPS. Also I will buy new fans (2 cheap local made Rs. 100). In case, you guys recommend a better matching graphics option, please keep in mind a 10k budget (incl. SMPS, Cooling system and graphics card) and not more. Currently, I have decided between 8600GT and 4550HD. ( Q: Which is better: nVIDIA or ATi??? )

Please, recommend a good system. Also mention the current prices. My dad's strictly against gaming so I dont mind an expensive CPU and mobo. But do keep the graphics option in mind. I don't need a graphics card too expensive, just to be able to play all the games ( I am a gaming freak) for the next 2 yrs minimum. I shall also buy 4 gb ddr2 ram but that's outside the said budget.

1) there are better processors for 15k budget

Like Phenom II X4 940 for 10.5k and ATI 780G board for 4.5k or Phenom II X2 550 for 5.5k and 780G board for 4.5k and you can put remaining 5k in GPU

2) 2yrs is a really loooong time to wait for a GPU.

Since you have 20k (15k+5K), here is what I suggest:

Phenom II X2 550: 5.5k
Gigabyte 780G based board: 4.5k
Palit GTX260 SP216 Sonic Edition: 10.5k

or

Phenom II X4 940 BE: 10.5k
Gigabyte 780G based board: 4.5k
Palit 9600GT: 5k or Sapphire HD4670: 4.5k

Before recommending remaining setup, let me know what your total budget is, including CPU mobo and GPU.

Thanks for your suggestions. As I have mentioned in my earlier post, my dad is strictly aganist gaming. Though the GTX260 is tempting, my dad will never buy it, and I don't have that much on me to pay for the rest of the graphics card cost. So, the second recomendation suits me better. Moreover, if I am not mistaken, 9600GT and HD4670 both require a minimum of 600W SMPS and a good cooling system, which would cost me together aroung 6k. So, the budget division again.

1) Processor (2.8GHz or above) + motherboard (a good one with all the essentials) = 15K

2) Suggestions for both is desirable
a) Graphics card only (no SMPS and cooling System, currently using 450W 12V/18A SMPS) = 5K
b) Graphics card + required SMPS + required cooling system = 10K

Please dont go above the budget. If possible opt for 2) a) option so that I may be able to play all games at great quality for next 2 yrs. Also an Intel system is desirable.

9600GT and HD4670 both require a minimum of 600W SMPS and a good cooling system???

who said that to you? they can easily run on a 400W corsair psu. And there is no need for a cooling system.

anyways, you can skip GPU as 780G onboard is pretty good but you better wait for another month. Go for a quad core processor and 780G/790FX based motherboard.

You have a HD4770 graphics card. What SMPS and cooling system are you using? If you say so, then i would need a SMPS with 12V/26A, right??? And 9600GT heats up a lot. So what should I do to decrease the heat???

am using Corsair VX450 PSU and for cooling, there is a huge 120mm cooler master fan on the side panel of my cabinet and one cooler master 80mm fan on the rear and additional 80mm fan cooling HDDs.

So, all comes down to this. I am buying the following:

2) MSI P45 Neo - F [Intel P45 Chipset 1333 FSB]
3) Palit 9600GT 512MB DDR3 256Bit

It adds up to around 19K. Now someone please explain to me, how shall I prevent this system from heating up. My current cabinet has no extra case fans. It can accommodate 2 rear and 1 side (maybe 80mm or 92mm) fans (I have a cheap Frontech nero cabinet). So what to do. Also I was thinking about an option: Cooler master Centurion 590 cabinet which is around 4k. Please tell me what should I do. Should I buy

1) The Centurion 590 cabinet with 2 120mm fans and 6 more optional slots and may have a 12V/26A PSU (do tell me about its SMPS)
or
2) Just buy the Corsair VX450 SMPS and fit it in my current cabinet along with some extra fans.

Instead for 20k, you can get this:

1) AMD Phenom II X4 940: 10.5k
2) Gigabyte MA78GM-US2H: 4.2k-4.5k
3) Palit 9600GT: 5k

This one's far more powerful than the config that you are thinking of for multitasking and matches E8400 for gaming (if you want to pay games)

Whatever you buy, you do have to get a good PSU, Corsair VX450 atleast. heat shouldn't be a problem as all those components does not generate much heat and one rear fan should be good enough.

The best cabinet you can go for is Cooler Master Gladiator 600. The air flow design is same as the famous CM 690 . It comes with Front 120mm Blue LED on/off fan ( A button present on the front I/O to toggle between on/off function ) , and top 140mm fan working as exhaust. You can use your existing fans to fix them on side panel and rear .

i think 4850/1gb/ddr3-7500rs
cooler master g-600-3600rs is better choice
