MS and sony were involved in a fierce graphics battle and along comes Wii and takes away all the glory by focusing on the casual gamer... and then 2 years pass... so what is next?? what is the next big thing in gaming and why has it taken so long for an industry that is at the cutting edge of technology??

Guys PS3 is now Dying console. Recent Game releases all show PS3 giving inferior Graphics and frame rated than Xbox 360. Better CPU doesn't mean better performance. And PS3 CPU is different , Its inferior in General processing which games require. and PS3 GPU doesn't have enough Bandwidth to give nice Frame rates or Graphics.

OH MY GOD...Look at this.... ps3 cpu has the capability to run more than 2000 Gflops. Which is merely double than the X360. That's why Experts are saying that to run KILLZONE 2 on their console they need Xbox 720.

the archtitecture is hard for developers to develope for ps3 . but those which are developed are awsome . we will see some games which will utilize full power of ps3

next big thing is quantum computing which can operate thousands of time faster than out current fastest super computers but unfortunately we wont have for next five to ten decades i guess
cause every thing is commercialized and they are going to go for smaller and smaller processors un till they can get all the profit from the current technology
so we have to wait for at least a couple of decades to see the change from this inefficient technology we depend upon now and don't expect the first model to be very affordable it's only for the wealthy ones.

That is theoretical performance which will never be achieved in real world by PS3 nor by XBOX 360(around 1 TeraFlop).The real problem with XBOX 360 is going to be storing all the high res textures that most games are going to be using.(an exapmle are Ati 48xx series and nVidia GT200 series gfx cards where Ati has peak theoretical performance of 1TF and more but is beaten by top GT200 series gfx cards in games and Folding@SETI and stuff even though having less peak performance).

PS3, Xbox 360 and PC gaming attracts people who have gaming as a hobby not something do on weekends or when it is raining outside and gaming is a lucrative business for all the companies and who are in it for the long haul.
The PS3 penetration is only going to increase as more quality titles release and Blu Ray becomes popular.

Which games, because comparison videos of multi-platform games like devil may cry 4 , residentevil 5 , wheelman etc seem to show that they tend to be same overall as far as quality is concerned.
Yeah! games require general processing, that is why MS and Sony dump millions of dollars in research and development of special processors for each iteration of their consoles.Get your basics right boy.
GPU has enough bandwidth but it might be weak in doing anti-aliasing and stuff but again some engines like Phyre engine are offloading everything onto the Cell.

I think you meant to say console battle.I don't think consoles are at the cutting edge of technology(well gfx tech) and anyway it is taking so long for them because it is a business and to run any business you gotta make money.

IF you say no one is using the ps3 power, The games in ps3 like MGS4 are stunningly beautiful even they are not using it's full potential. Then imagine how good it will be if they uses the full potential.

If you say they are not going to use the full potential untill the end of the world. Then........ all the best. You will see the title which uses the full potential soon. Don't ask me the name of the title.

Well if you are going to be an irrational fanboy then no one can help you.
I never did say that Xbox 360 is bigger and best but you can't claim that it is a cripple either.I haven't played Killzone 2 but have watched videos(too many of them) and frankly there is nothing that amazing either I mean how is it graphically better than Gears of War 2, both of them have low draw distance, limited colour palatte etc.
In reference to no body being able to make 100% use of the power of Cell-BE you have got to understand that the peak performance they shout around is calculated by assuming perfect code is running and compuatation is taking in each CPU cycle.Also there are architectural limitations with respect to taking full advantage etc.
You seem to be playing Killzone 2, which might explain your fervent liking for the title, enjoy .
Every one is a self-proclaimed expert on this forum and you must me excuse if I don't take your word on the topic .

P.S: Is it me or does this site seem to be, too damn slow.

I'm not a irrational fanboy. If you say X360 has huge developer support than ps3, i will do nothing than simply calm down. If you say X360 has 100 times more better multiplayer support over ps3 through Xbox Live then i will shut down. If you say the X360 can be owned even by rikshaw waala and PS3 can be only owned by car waala then i would simply shut up. If you say X360 has more titles then ps3 will ever have then i won't make a pindrop noise.

There are only 3 main areas where ps3 has edge over X360. they are Future proof, Better Hardware, Exclusive Titles. In some case, If MicroSoft has delayed the release of X360 release for atleast 6 months, then The ps3 wouldn't have two of the above edges.

Bash ps3 like hell in the first paragraph. But hail ps3 in second one.

Sony is known of making future proof consoles , see playstation 1 production was there even after xbox360 was launched . PSone Has the longest lifetime of any console , Back in days where CD-ROMs were used to hold games That time The PS2 was launched with DVD drive . and the PS3 is only Blue Ray Player Which offers complete Value for money .

Playstation 2 also has problems at the time of its launch . but as time passes everyone knows what happned .

so to judge ps3's potential , just wait time to pass .

The next big thing i feel will go towards making gaming as real as possible... even if that means wearing a headgear and being connected to others through wireless thus enabling masively multiplayer games as you walk the street... now that would be big...
