PS3 -> Help needed

Just got myself a PS3 40GB 2day.having a few probs with it:
1>connecting it with my pc with the supplied AV cable (thru tuner card).display quality on my 22" lcd is crap.is there any VGA cable availble for the PS3?
2>whenever i'm playing DVD videos (both original & ******), the video is kinda jumpy & B&W.audio is coming well.dont hav this issue when i'm playing avi files from dvd.

Congrats mate!
get the latest firmware and see if u r issue is resolved
tuner card may be causing the prob since it may not be not for high resolution.
what res r u running at?

tuner card is not the issue.the default AV (1 supplied in box is the composite video cable), so max res supported is 576i.

Quick question, does your monitor have a HDMI or DVI input by any chance?

if it had there wud hav been no issue.planning to replace the 22" 2day with something that has a dvi-d atleast.

well i don't know about the cable but i am suffering from same issue. even my acer lcd doesn't have an HDMI input.
but the quality shud be good on LCD thats what i want to say because i connect it to my TV the quality is all good.
btw how many discs have u got?

If you have a HDTV or a monitor with HDMI port then you might want to get a HDMI cable. I got mine from Sony World for 600 bucks. Otherwise the graphics would look more or less like PS2 only.

In that case better get a Dell 24 inch monitor. That would be an ideal choice.

There is no fun playing PS3 on computer LCDs. Hellgate,you must be having a HDTV.

his monitor has only got D Sub i/p.

i think he wants to see in higher resolution.

from wat intel i've gathered from around the net the following cud be the sol:
1>HDMI-HDMI male cable
2>HDMI-DVI-D converter
3>any monitor which has DVi input (sud also be HDCP capable) can now display PS3 in its full glory.

@Sunny1211993 sorry bro dont hav the HDTV here.

just a noobish q -> is the DVI-HDMI converter thats supplied with gfx cards same as HDMI-DVI converter?i'm mean will the DVI-HDMI converter work the reverse way i.e HDMi-DVI?if this is possible then i'll just buy a HDMI cable.hav a HP W1907 lying around.it has DVI (HDCP capable)

^AFAIK the converter supplied with a graphic card is usually a VGA to DVI converter.

^^^ they also supply a DVI to HDMI converter.got 2 of them with HD4870 Sonic & 9800GTX+.
but the q is do they work the reverse way?

If it's similar in shape then it should work for connecting your PS3 to your LCD. Also make double sure the LCD you're buying is HDCP compliant.

EDIT: Just checked & you can get a BenQ E2200HD full HD monitor which has a HDMI port ready & is HDCP compliant as well. So no need to worry about converter & stuff like that. Just plug & play.

i got the PS3 just to play the xclusive titles.for the others the pc is gud to go for obvious reasons.
