Help me buy a GPU..

hy guys m gonna upgrade to a new gpu soon.budget is nt a prob...ive settled down for Xfx 9800gt 512mb ddr3..& 9800gt superclocked by EVGA..m gonna buy dis frm U.S..so dese cards r available for around 100-125$..the thing is i askd d experts at ma workplace dey say for a superclockd gfx u need a gaming board or so..is this true?? my current pc config DUAL CORE 3GHZ , 2GB DDR2 533MHZ , INTEL 945 MOBO , XFX 7300GT 512MB DDR2 , VIP 400W SMPS..

n also dey said for a card like 9800gt u require power of more than 450w(smps) if u want max out d game settings..dey said it wil work on 400w of supply bt mite put load on d smps n mite kill it someday..is this true?? Palit & xfx & Evga claim minimum of 400w for 9800gt to run & 450w supply if in SLI mode(www.tigerdirect.com) plz help..thnx

buying HD4850 or 9800GTX+ is better than buying 9800GT. And yes, you do need a better PSU, atleast a corsair VX450W or 500W PSU from coolermaster.

Your PSU probably has 70% efficiency, i.e max output power is 400x0.7=280w, get the picture.

Recommended PSU-
1.Coolermaster Extreme Power 500w
2.Corsair VX450w

BTW-Your mobo can handle both the mentioned GFx cards, just get the new PSU.

hey buddy . u need a complete upgrade. ist of all the mobo and cpu will be a serious bottleneck fo ur gpu (9800gt.) buy a p45 chipset mobo nd if possible get a c2duo pro. new dx 10 games relies more on gpu , so itz ok to stik to ur old pro.
then da ram. get 4 gb ram. new dx 10 games demand more ram. and finally get a colermaster 400 w psu , it will be sufficient.

r u planing to buy it online. or offline lol??????????

yea mostly online...it costs 135$ wid tax at www.tigerdirect.com ....i already hav a VIP 400w PSU...actly my doubt is regardin d card...shud i buy d superclockld 9800gt or d simple 9800gt????

ary my uncle stays in d US so he ws supposed to get d card..bt he din get d one i wanted..i stay in kuwait..i got my gfx frm kuwait finally..i bot a ZOTAC 9800GT 512MB GDDR3 Synergy Edition for 37kuwaiti dinars i.e Rs6300..nw a new prob hs cropped up 4 me..my previous gfx XFX 7300GT is 18cms...n d new gpu is 24cms...so m worried whether it will fit in d case i mean it shudnt obstruct d hdd...its vry lengthy..m using an intex cabinet its around 32cms i guess...oderwise il hv 2 change my cabint...n nw my question is regardin d power supply..m using a VIP 400w..so will dis card work if i play d games on max setting??..on d gpu box it says minimum req 400w....so help me...which is d best utility shud i use to overclock???
