Default Pes 2009

Hi,

Anyone played PES 2009? How is it and how is it different from PES 2008? Gamespot have not yet posted the detailed review so I was wondering...

Thanks.

I had started a thread earlier- PES 2009: A look
Back then, I played the demo. Screenshots remain same from the demo, and Kl@w-24 has posted some of his screenshots as well.
IMO, PES 2009 pwns FIFA hands down in gameplay. And you can get patches for the game which correct the kits, player names and team crests etc. And the Become a Legend mode is the highlight of the 2009 version.

But Fifa's live updating and all is kewl too don't forget that.

Features like 3D grass, post processing and high quality shaders are welcome features in FIFA09.

PES 2009 is much better than 2008 version though

Marketing gimmicks, nothing more.

Live updating? Do you mean the Adidas Live Season? It's nice and all, but PES had something like this even in the previous version. In Master League, the players' forms would never remain the same. Each week, the form of each player keeps changing, and it's denoted by an arrow. A red arrow means a player is in good form, a dull grey one meant a player was out of form, etc. And you didn't need an Internet connection for this. I know you'll say that in FIFA, the player forms would be updated according to their real world performances. This, I must admit, is a plus point, but, who cares? In PES too, their forms would keep changing, but not in accordance with their real world forms that's all. Adidas Live Season was hyped so much, thanks to EA's ownership of the FIFA series. PES 2009's Become a Legend mode didn't receive the kind of attention it should've received.

3D grass? For one, it's visible only when the goalkeeper takes goal kicks, and when the game is in progress as normal, it's hardly noticeable. As for the post processing and all, it does make the game look better than it's previous version, but PES 2009 still looks better. Play it, and you'll understand. Before I started playing PES, I thought FIFA ruled the roost, but then, after playing PES, I switched sides to become a PES fanboy.

No offense BTW. I know you like FIFA, but please try out PES as well.

If you are going to buy for for PC, you can go for PES without second thoughts. If buying for console I would still recommend PES. In case you are going to play on console, just go to some gaming parlour and try both the games yourself. You will immediately know which one you are going to like. But for PC, you can buy PES without thinking even for a minute.
