Windows, because of its step by step explanation features

2. Which OS provided the best default programs post installation?
Currently Windows 7, Earlier Window XP

3. Which of the OS's provided the best default web browser based on 1.functionality, 2.security, and 3.user-friendliness?
Windows(Almost all browser Internet Explorer, Firefox etc. Runs smoothly)

4. Which OS did you find better to customize based on how easy it was to customize, the amount of visual and audible appeal, and the variety of customization available for the OS.
Windows can be adjusted as per need

5. Which OS did you find it easier to add new programs based on how easy it was to find the software, how easy it was to install.
Windows Very Easy to Find & Install, because almost all software are windows compatible, compatibility issue occurs in Linux

6. Which OS provided a better networking experience in terms of security, setting up a LAN (wired and wireless), printer (network or direct) and functionality.

7. Which OS is a better base for productivity, whether it be programming,

All New Software & New Hardware Devices support Windows, linux is optional, even though linux is a Free Open Source but its worth to Pay for Windows

Dear Mr. staticsid you must have also added a Poll for Overall Performance (now for it u need to count it manually)

Tells me that you don't have much idea about what you talked in ur post.

But should be noted that Windows problems may be universal (in all cases) whereas Linux problems are case-specific (incompatibility with some hardware)

when you buy your hardware (small time hardware like USB dongle, webcam), it has two icons on the package. "Designed for Windows" and a Mac smiley icon.

people are sitting to write a driver for non-working devices, but again it is in the hardware vendor's hand to open up the spec. I really think it isnot a too big task for the hardware vendor (like Canon) to write a driver for Linux, is it?

OpenOffice and Firefox arenot causing any profit to any company. when they come preinstalled, you actually "own" them and can remove it straight away. If Microsoft Office came free with Windows 7, 95% of the people will actually be very happy as they are getting the best Office software for free.

IE and WMP are no way the best in their field. It was like forcing a no -competitive product over users. Hence,the AntiTrust cases.
