a (good) GPU has more transistors than a CPU. it has more processing power. while most of the Processors are 32 bit or 64 bit, a GPU may be 128 or 256 bit etc..

ok, the reason y a GPU can draw more polygons is because it is optimized 4 doing that...a GPU is meant just for rendering all the graphics/drawing polygons/etc and nothing else...the following links should help:
