    Default Hard Disk

I am using an Intel D945GCPE Motherboard. I have recently bought a 500 GB hard disk. The BIOS shows it as 500 GB. But when I tried to load Win XP OS, the unpartitioned space was shown as 126 GB. Can any one solve my problem?

I think you are using a XP intallation disc without any service pack slipstreamed into it and that's the reason it's unable to recognize your HDD sapce properly.

Use a XP disk with Sp2 or Sp3 slip streamed or else create a small partition to install XP - after XP is installed install service pack 3 - Install all necessary drivers - open disk manager - it's under control panel > admin tools. - now it should show you the unpartitioned space correctly - create partitions using disk manager.
