A chipset is a group of chips that are used together to power a motherboard. The chipset is built into the design of the motherboard and is responsible for its working.
while a motherboard is the mainboard of the computer which forms a platform for housing the processor and has various ICs, slots etc on it.

hey Taken chipset and motherboard both are different parts.
The motherboard controlled the function of ur whole PC. that mean it controlled the fuction of ur various hardware in ur PC. It enable them to communicate between them. On the other hand chipset controlled the function of ur motherboard.A set of chips attached to the motherboard that control how some system hardware interacts with the CPU and motherboard. Memory(RAM) is one component which is controlled by the chipset. I Hope u get ur answer below link will further help u to solve ur doubt http://www.faqfarm.com/Q/What_is_mai...al_motherboard
