How DIGIT manages to get softwares and stuff?

Just wondering how DIGIT, or any similar tech mags comes monthly packed with
softwares,videos, free games etc. Are all these freely distributable..?? In my knowledge they aren't though they are freeware and are supposed to dl from the direct source unless
mentioned so or are in the public domain.

Or do DIGIT have rights to do it. If it would've had the same would have mentioned somewhere in the mag. have you seen any?

Even EA Sports dont allow demo versions to be distributed AFAIK

It obviously works on request-approval basis, what's to ask? If you would like to distribute a particular company's software trials, you'd clearly have to ask the company first and thats what they do. Cases like Adobe, Microsoft, etc require this. Most of the s/w contained in the DVD are otherwise free for distribution.

Plus, its not really necessary to include the permission letter blah blah. Just a simple note of the copyrights and other such bindings (R and TM) must be mentioned, for using the name.

yes windchimes you are right, but if we look at every other tiny bit then sharing these awesome softies will not be possible to masses.

Infact many free software developers are very lenient in someone distributing their software but as a precautionary measure they have default policy in their website.

digit employs some ppl who are addicted to net and they find some softwares....even one person is enough for that...

If you read the EULA of freewares that are distributed by Digit, it says that they can be freely redistributed but without modification. Many popular freewares follow this line of agreement.

Moreover, it is beneficial to the software author too. If he made it compulsory that freeware must be downloaded only from his server, he risks extra costs without any guarantee of compensation.
