Avast 4.7 or 4.8 ???

ppl using avast plz suggest ...... i have avast 4.7, should i upgrade it 2 4.8 [latest] or b happy with 4.7 ???

coz i have seen many conflicts\stability of version 4.8 with many softies ......

I am using 4.8 in XP pro & it's fine.
Don't know about Vista.

no no .... i havent installed 4.8 bt thinking of upgrading it .... bt many post on MORE cpu usage & compatibility problems also .........

how much cpu usage is eaten bt avast on ur machine ?

Y are you using Avast?
It was a gud one, but nowadays it cant detect most of the viruses or trojans and even if it finds one, it fails to disinfect infected user files and blocks access to the files, even with latest updates.

Try Kaspersky, which is by far the best ive used. It detects all kinda viruses and trojans ive seen nd successfully removed all of them and also easily manages to disinfect infected user files on HDD or flash devices. Most of my friends who got infected usb devices from their systems and lappy happily removes them using KAV installed on my lappy.
And much faster than Norton.
I havnt used NOD32. Heard that its also a fine piece of software. but my vote for KAV 7.
BTW currently KAV is using 4.7Mb of my system memory on XP.

KAV blocks Spyware Doctor Started Edition and it annoys me too much.
I agree avast ha lost its strength but its free and thats what matters to most.

ashDisp.exe-1748K. I've got the latest Avast! Even I'm thinking of moving to Kaspersky or NOD32. I have tried both.

just just download any two latest versions of KAS demo. Activate the one month trial and after one month, just uninstall it nd install the other version nd activate it. Again after one month, uninstall it nd install the first pack again nd activate it.
One of my friend is enjoying lifetime fully activated KAS using this trick. But here are lots of keys available though with updates enabled
