Calcuttans !! help . I am coming to kolkata. now about

well nothing technical ... I have my HTC touch mobile and a apple macbook laptop and a prehistoric ipod mini which is more than enough for me . I am asking you about food .

tell me some GOOD resturants in kolkata . I was in kharagpur for few year s upto 2003 so time to time I visitd some resturants like aminia and near to that nijaam . but i think now the story have changed ....so tell me what to eat where !!

Let me know what is your choice of food and where will you be staying in Kolkata.

Some of the prominent restaurants are on Park Street like Peter Cat, Mocambo, Waldorf. These are mainly chinese restaurants. Also there is Mainland China near Park Circus.

There are a lot of Mughlai restaurants like Siraj, Aminia, Rehmania all over Kolkata including Saltlake. In the newly opened City Center in Saltlake there are a few new restaurants.

Bengali's like to eat a lot so there is no dearth in of choices Kolkata. Let me know if you need more details.

By the way, I assume you are not a bengali and going to Kolkata for a job. If you need any other help please don't hesitate to ask.

I will stay very near to airport . in the midway between ultadanga and dumdum . so that will be north kolkata .?. anyway the bengali dish I like is your Hilsa fish witha combination of kerala-rice ( kerala rice is a kind of red-rice ...the rice grains are much bigger than others ...its full of vitamins very healthy ) ...

anyway I like all kind of dishes ... only thing I dont like is a dish called sukhto


however I like muslims dishes much

If your are staying near to the Airport, then you can check the new restaurants at City Center, Saltlake. There are also some well known restaurants like Zest, Misra's. There is a restaurant called Delhi Durbar near Ultadanga which is a Indian specialist. If you want to try Mughlai, you can check out Siraj/Rehmania both of which are in Saltlake and also near Lake Town.

By the way, the area between Airport to Ultadanga is technically not North Calcutta, it is actually in Dumdum municipality. North Calcutta starts from Ultadanga. My house is in Ultadanga near the rail bridge.

If you are planning to cook by yourselves, let me tell you that you will not get Hilsa at this time of the year when it is still too hot for the fishes to come in the seas. It will be at least 2 more months before they are coming. But do enjoy eating mangoes. I can get Hilsa sitting in Bangalore also, but Mangoes I guess is exclusive to Bengal.

I am already feeling the urge to go home.

if u live near the airport..the closest possible mall will be City centre..at city centre u can try out HAKA,ORKOS,etc...good food but at a price...well...then if un can go to salt lake..theres this place called BHOJOHORI MANNA which prepares the best ebngali dishes in kolkata..its located just beside the bidhannagar swimming pool..ask for it..then at ultadanga,for moghlai and punjabi dishes,try out the HONEY DA DHABA...for chinese u can refer to HONG KONG..going to the foodie subarbs of kolkata...park street has the best restaurants followed by ho chi mihn sarani and park crcus..for exclusive chinese cuisine..u can also take a peek at chna town..known for its delicacies...cheers.

I cant stay without internet . here in navi-mumbai
I use an ISP called youtele ( this is one of the worst ) thank god youtele is not there in kolkata .

Hmm.. Area of Gaurav I guess anyway Auto Connecting Ultodanga and West Bengal Surface Transport buses connecting South kolkata can be found. Auto is quite cheap but they stuff 7 (incl drive) people in one where as the WBST white liner buses are costly but they are much more comfortable !!!

U would find, few malls in VIP road it self Big Bajar / Vishal Mega mart, where as City center is the nearest place to check out the chicks ... you may find auto service from ultodanga

Or may be take the white line buses to come to Forum (Elgine Road) in central kolkata
