The mounting outstandings to be recovered by the state controlled PSU are enormous volume running in to thousands crores!! So far the PSU s such as BSNL as well as MTNL-who are reeling under acute shortage of recovery officers in their organisations , remained much conservative, except issuing Defaulter notices, as well as disconnecting other phone connections, if it is in thier name.. However many subscribers has taken phone connections in different family members, then when one connections become out standing they refuse to pay the dues and prevented the officers to discconnectes other phones numbers in the family members name.. they are yet to approach the recovery agents like any other private service providers

Now it seem Supreme Court, took the matter and it ruled that the husbands do have to pay the bills of wife's phone connection if it is become dues when she is dependent on her husband. The Apex court passed an order in the case filed by one Surgit Singh,against the MTNL New Delhi who has failed to clear the wife's phone dues, and challenged the decision of MTNL disconnect the phone in his personnel capacity as well as his business establishment phone connections..
