Default I am so close to becoming a housewife...

Okay...3 years of living alone in Australia and 4 months so far in Switzerland have brought me down to this:

1) I am able to cook a variety of 20-25 dishes ... both Indian and Italian...

2) I wash dishes...

3) I do laundry...I iron clothes...I freaking buy two separate detergents depending on if I'm washing normal or woollen clothes.

4) I also do a bunch of other stuff I'm not too fond of...

Here's the thing...I feel like I'm becoming very much of a lady these days. Anyone else here can identify? Or am I having my testicles bagged up for me one of these days??

Even I love cooking and can prepare a host of delicacy. None taught me to cook, learned them all by trail n error methods. I cook, wash dishes and clothes in Dubai but here in Chennai, only cooking.

I sometimes do cooking, do laundry regularly, shop for groceries, pay utility bills here in US. I have been here for around 2 months now.

800 a month but no living space, utensils, laundry & cooking in the morning; utensils in the afternoon; cooking at nite and utensils after that

I was doing most of em while i was in a hostel or more like a rented house near ma college. My friends were dumbos in these matters. We lived for days without eating anything from our house, so i realized that i wont be able to take dinner or anythin is i dun work, as they wont work even hell's breaking in.
They just keep watching TV shows[yup, TV SHOWS].
Thank GOD, im now at home nd more than happy.

I feel your pain, brother! One and a half years in hostel, and I'm already as good as my mother at washing clothes - no wait, better - she uses an automatic whirlpool, i use detergent and a brush! I rustle up sandwiches and some coffee every evening at five before going to play, and a hot soup after dinner. Thank god for the mess, else I'd be stuck with REAL cooking! Thank god there're two years to go before that!!!

I'm learning to cook now. I think it helps. I was commenting as to how bad my mom cooks for which she told "If you find my cooking bad, you can learn to cook". That's more like a challenge. It's not bad. Long way to go before I can start cooking non-veg. I would love to show off my skills then. I do wash utensils, occasionally. Sometimes, I have to clean the house. It's no big deal dude. You see a lot of people doing these chores

Hmm...point...but the other day one of my classmates was asking me to help her "put together an outfit" ... which made me feel particularly emasculated. On the bright side, she's french and superhot and now I know she wears Victoria's Secret!

@gx_saurav, drgrudge: You make excellent points! Well, atleast, when I made some gourmet pasta and cheese garlic bread for my gf last to last year on our anniversary, it was apparently a major turn on...8)

Still...I miss India and my joint family and my house with maids who did all this stuff...

It comes as a part of living alone at a place, especially where you do not get good food..! After 5 months of living away from family now, I'm able to cook considerably, sweep and clean the house neatly, wash utensils and clothes (no washing machine) cleanly, press clothes neatly, etc..! Now this experience will be very good for you, especially when you are getting married to a working girl.. You'll be able to share your workloads together, and you'll really understand when she says its difficult to do something..! So cheer up.... and keep learning..!

you know i also loved cooking but when i had to cook for myself straight thru for 6 months all my love for cooking/cleaning was lost...

now i dont complain abt my mum's food at all...

most things we love are only good till we dont need to do them regularly.

life is not fair.
