Default Lets Share our "First" PC(if you still remember)as we enter 2008.

What was you first PC configuration.....do people remember....I remember it very well as it was the most dear thing of my life at that time.......

Proc:entium 1 133 Mhz
Ram:: 32 MB SDRAM
Creative CD-ROM (It was for 4000 bucks I remember 24x...)
Mercury mobo
Cirrus Logic Sound card (which I later "upgraded" to yamaha...)
SiS VGA adapter 1MB Vram ( Again later upgraded to 2 MB)..BTW....that was a major upgrade at that time...
2.1 GB GB HDD
14" CRT LG monitor.
TVS Gold mechanical keyboard (which BTW still is considered the best keyboard and also still is the most expensive)
This config bore a hole of 53000 in my pocket(or my fathers to be precise..) at that time which was i guess Q2 of 1994 or 95 dont exactly remember. Motoracer and streamer was our fav game at that time.

My friend used to envy me for this config against his which was a Pentium 66Mhz. 16MB EDO RAM. 1.2 GB HDD and a Black n White monitor....... MP3 in those days was just around the corner and believe me it used to take 20 mins for one song to be compressed to MP3 from WAV...and imagin we used to do 3D Max rendering on this machine(used to take 2 days to render one complete image)..........man those were the days.....).....

^ Yep that was hottest at that time.. and SB Live card. That card was total waste considering I had Mercury 880 2.1 Speakers..

My next system had Intel 865GBF, another popular board around..

CD Rwiter...mmm must have been expensive at that time.....you know when I bought my first CD writer what were the specs.....

It was an HP CD Writer, wrote at a blazing speed of 2x, used to take somewhere around 40-45 min to write a 650MB CD. Me and my friend shared 6000 each to get the writer for 12000 at that time.. (must be around 95/96).....

BTW a blank CD used to cost around 85-90 bucks "HP gold media"(which still we used to say ...."yaar blank CDs sassti ho gayee hai"... .(coz they were as expensive as 150 rs once under my knowldge).....
I still have few of those in perfect condition.......

power book g3 is a mac and when macs were at a poer book architecture there was a difference between PCs and Macs and hence he said that the first computer he worked on was not a pc but a powerbook and then he mentioned the first PC he owned

Mine I still use.... I think the config is rather known to all:

P4 2.66 GHz
Intel 915G Mobo
256 MB DDR RAM 400 MHz(from a really costly brand)
80 Gig Samsung HDD
Samsung Combo Drive 52x

I am still proud that even with a crippled system like this that can't even accept an AGP/PCI-E Graphics Card, I am put it to some good use and trying to extract the maximum potential from it.

I don't remember much about the configuration of my first PC, it was a "branded" PC (Pertech Computers Ltd) but it had an Intel 486 processor on it. Dad bought it in 1995. It ran DOS and Windows 3.1. Didn't have any speakers, had a 14" black and white CRT screen, and I never knew which sound card (if it had any) and graphics card it had. Don't know how much RAM or what size the HDD was.
The gfx card was huge (it was like a separate motherboard on the motherboard) Although I do remember that the PC had some Cyrix chips on board (I remember seeing those info during boot).

Hehe, I remember using old softwares like Wordstar on it. And my first game Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold; dad got it on a floppy for something like Rs.800 (damn I'm getting nostalgic).
