Default Yahoo messenger

Hello Dudes,

Its been a long time since i visited the forum.
Have been busy and away from the net since the last 6 months or an year.
I find that everything has been changed for good.
I luv this new look but it is kinda confusing.

Anywayz
I have a few queries regarding the Yahoo messenger.
It is YaHOO MOBILE.
In messenger, I see that many of my contacts are available on SMS and when I send them a message, they receive a SMS.

This registration link says that it is free and there is no mention of any charges.
http://in.messenger.yahoo.com/mobile.php is the registration site.

I want to know that is the recepient of the SMS is charged for the SMS.

I have this concern, cos my sister who is based in China sent me an SMS using some Instant Messenger on my Reliance mobile.

When I received the Rel mobile monthly statement I came to know that I was
charged 5 bucks for that SMS.
I want to confirm that I will not be charged on my Airtel mobile bill before registering for the Yahoo Mobile service.

Thank You
Amit.

PS: are there any free services available on the internet to make calls to any landline number or ISD number.

AFAIK, this is dependednt on the Operator. Only some Operators supoort sms from yahoo. You may check with Airtel also, check if you can use rediff bol for sms... I believe you can send three sms to any number in India (Not verified) till you get a reply.

Airtel provides the service for free.
You will receive the chat messages left by someone to you.
If you reply to them via mobile you will be charged.
Also you will receive only one or two offline chats, after that you will get a SMS from yahoo to reply to one of their messages to continue receiving the further chat messages.

BTW welcome back to the forum Buddy.

@cool G5, some circles on Airtel are not supported i believe. I tried sending one and it says .. Verifying Number and then it says, "You cannot send the text coz, this service provider is not supported". This is only in some circles.

Hey G5,

Are you 100% sure?
Like have you ever registered an Airtel number for Yahoo SMS?
Or do you know anyone who is using Airtel with Yahoo?
Is there anyone with a first hand experience?

That did not help.
Airtel Customer Service sucks ..and sucks realtime.
They have absolutely no knowledge about the product they are supporting.
They put me on hold for for a long time and I was transfered to various departments.
They just bide your time by saying they need some time to research the issue and transfer you to some other department.
In the end I hung up myself.
