Airtel is irritating
i got a new Airtel prepaid connection
now after every SMS i send i get an advertisement from airtel..
and at the end of the long advertisement they put up my balance info.. !!
i called up and asked them to disable it.. they said they can't disable it.
saying that it some UFS and shows balance..
what do i do now ??
guess i will hv to suffer for 3 months.. simply i am planning to change after that.. because i hate it..!!

my bad luck i missed to take the student offer.. which expired soon..
now tell me about this Crap ads and how i get them disabled.. ??

you can register to the National Do Not Call Registry(NDNC). Im not sure how much they charge you for it...

ok any idea how to do that ??
and by doing soo will those push messages get disabled ??
is there any hack for sony ericsson phones to supress them on receive ??

The matter is not concerned as telemarketing,
but u shouldnt be getting an SMS,
those are supposed to be cell info msgs
like checking balance using *123# (nokia)

i get a push sms
its called a PUSH SMS..
even that *123# message u get back is a PUSH message..
push sms is just flashed right away on the screen....!!
info message whatever u may say...
u can use 3rd party apps to send PUSH SMS to your friends from your cellphone...

just now i got an SMS from airtel...i did not try anything.. or asked for any service or stuff

I dont know about airtel. Hutch has something called DND (Do not disturb), that stops these annoying messages by and large. Airtel should also have something similar.

To disable airtel adverts, send "NOPROMO" to 511.
Worked for me on airtel prepaid.

Do Not Disturb wont help. You can just ignore it. Let me explain.
I normally send sms to around 70-80 people at a strecth. Further these sms cross the standard barrier and take size of around 2-4 sms. So Airtel would show the balance anywhere between 2*70=140 or 4*80=320 times. I just ignore it since as soon as the next push message is received, the previous one expires

The good old Nokia 2100 has a setting called credit info display which when disabled didn't show these messages after each SMS sent or call made..
Dunno if its there in the newer models these days....

i can't do much as of now.. because its a new number
and many airtel services still don't recognize my number
what about DND.. what all will it disable ??
and it says my connection was closed... i think my number is yet to get completely activated..!
as i said many airtel services don't recognize my number.
