"First of all I want to say something over here. I want to thank you back home Pakistan and where the Muslim lives all over the world."


This is what he said word for word because it's important to quote him correctly. The problem here isn't the syntax, it is the sentiment. I don't expect Shoaib Malik to be a politically correct intellectual, but it is reasonable to expect him to know the world of cricket that he inhabits.

It is a world where Muslims, Hindus and a Sikh currently play for England, where Buddhists, Muslims, Christians and a Hindu play for Sri Lanka, where Hashim Amla turns out for South Africa, where a Patel plays for New Zealand, where Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus play (and have always played) for India. Why would Shoaib think, then, that the Muslims of the world were collectively rooting for the Pakistan team or that they felt let down by its defeat? Did he stop to think of how Danish Kaneria, his Hindu team-mate, might feel hearing his Test skipper all but declare that the Pakistan team is a Muslim team that plays for the Muslims of the world? It is one thing to be publicly religious—Shahid Afridi thanked Allah and Matt Hayden and Shaun Pollock are proud, believing Christians—quite another to declare that your country's cricket eleven bats for international Islam.

on the other case,a statement like this makes fanaticals of islamic community(A world united by Islam and no other religion exists as per the teachings) feelings high and hence support too.

i was extremely proud when irfan pathan was named MoM. Because the pakistanis beleived that muslims would be a persecuted minority in India and hence wanted a seperate state. But India has proved that (except a tiny number of religious fanatics) this country is secular and everyone irrespective of religion has a fair chance of making it big.

And I have a dreadful feeling that the paki captain's comment was triggered because he views India as only a HINDU country. We have proved them wrong.

Irfan Pathans' MoM award was not essential to prove that India is secular.

Why was he only apologising to muslims I think here are many hindus and sikhs in pakistan and all over the world who were supporting them.But again I think he was just trying to save his a&& cos he knew he will be executed(well almost) as soon as he and his boys reach their country not because they lost the final but because they lost the final against India.

And I Heard On Some Paki Channel, Oh Ye Geo; Ek Din Geo Ke Saath Where He Mentioned He Is Married, Later Ironically He Denied Being Married In 2006 On The Same Channel. He Is Indeed Cheap And Untrustworthy. I Hope That Girl Comes Out Of The Shadows, Holds A Press Conference And Unveils Shoaib Malik's True Character.
