ADSL Modem
I am a DataOne Home Plan 250 subscriber of BSNL. During Connection of BB they provided me Type -II Modem and intimated me when Type -I modem is available they will replace the same. Today BSNL Official Call me, and ask whether I will retain the Type -II Modem or will replace the same. If I keep the Type -II modem I have to pay additional Rs. 624/- for the cost of modem.
Now my question is what is the difference between two modem. I have not seen the type - I Modem. Friends, shall I keep the existing modem by paying the additional amount or I have to opt for the Type-I modem.
Please reply.________________________________________________

Re: ADSL Modem
^^^^
type II has wifi, if you plan to use internet wirelessly then keep type II otherwise get a type I.
its no use of paying of features that you won't use
also there no difference in performance & speeds

Re: ADSL Modem
Thanks,
Than As per your opinion it is better to return the modem ok, I will go with you.
Today BSNL has replaced my ADSL modem type -II with Type -I. I have installed the same and the connection speed is same as to compare with Type-II. But one problem with this modem as well as earlier one, that when I type in the address bar http://192.168.1.1 to open the settings of modem the page cannot open. what is the problem ?Last edited by skghosh44; 19-09-2007 at 09:45 PM. Re: ADSL Modem
I have got solved my problem as under:

In My system above settings was set as "Use the following IP Address" instead of "obtain an IP address automatically". when I change the setting and open the url 192.168.1.1 its open. But there is lots of settings which I cannt understand. I think there is no need to change any settings in the modem/router as my connection works fine.
My modem is here.

Re: ADSL Modem
I think this modem is new model introduced by BSNL. Because My previous Type-II modems as well as Type-I modem of my office settings page was different. Which have no similarity with the modem I recently got and the picture posted in my thread. Any idea about the same.
