Is it necessary to join merawindows to become MVP ?

hi
i am bit confused though i have joined merawindows but i cant devote my

time on that forum due to time constraints and because i love Digit forum

most also most of the members in merawindows r also the members of digit

as well .

so my Q : Is it necessary to join merawindows to become MVP ?

also will the award help me on my professional life

( i am pursuing my B.TECH

no. merawindows is the official microsoft forum for India...sort of... but u can be active anywhere.

yes i think the award will help u directly or indirectly in your profsnl life.

Yes, as anand said, since MW is supported by MS India, it'll definitely help u in getting the award but at last it depends upon ur knowledge.

frankly speaking, dont u guys find the merawindows/office forum boring??
Btw vishal and anand wat r the biggest advantages of being a MVP except getting to beta test MS products??
And wats the procedure to become one?? Any tests?

1. MW is a bit boring coz there arnt many active members, just a few including me. We can make it interesting if we all can also get active there.

2. Advantage of becoming MVPs:

a. An honor that can't be described in words.
b. All MS products free of cost (windows, office, all MS products)
c. Latest inside news and discussion with MS ppl.
d. Lots of other companies provide their products free for MVPs, like NOD32, Acronis, Axialias, etc.
e. Access to MS newsgroups.
f. Lots of events, etc.

And there r lots of other benefits.

3. No procedure or test. Just be active in forum, help members in troubleshooting their problems. Thats it.

Since MW has started nominating ppl for the award, so u get better chances for it.

and well i never opened mera windows forum, but i am a active member on technet and MSDN forums from last two years.. and from dec 2006 in digit too..

its nothing special to do , just devote some time to foruming.. or if you are a software dev. then you can choose between various streams of MVP title..

well the biggest benefit is honour and after that i purchased great hardwares from the company stores which are very difficult to buy from outside .. i.e Microsoft Entertainment desktop 7000 (with laser 8000 mouse) bluetooth kit..

so everyone keep trying...
