I obviously know that they are spammers. But they need to be controlled dude. The homepage of the forums does not look good like that and we do have kids and children as members too. So the profanity needs to be strictly dealt with.

Its almost a month since that last post pal. That is enough time. That too a tech site like Digit being spammed. Hahahaha. The Digit team should forget writing articles for security and stuff in their magazines if they cannot secure their own site itself.

There is really no way this can be stopped.
Only thing that can be done is ignoring it completely.
And creating new posts for such things is the last thing one will want.

Yes. Me and friends do run a forum. Its called "The Hardware Labs" . Google for it. I am a mod there.

Believe me, such type of issues need to be dealt with very promptly as the whole image of the forum is at stake. And since this is a tech forum run by a tech magazine, it is even more shameful.

o! wise old owl theres a difference between a mod and an admin ... the spammers have been banned yesterday and day before as i told u mehul and sourabh know about this issue ... and being a wise old owl u should know the quality of moderation here and then question it

Still I am sure there is some option. The specific range of IP addresses which the spammers use can be banned. I think there are options like that.

And digit is not the first site to face this kind of problem. I am sures others deal with it too. So therez definitely a solution.

EDIT : And I was not aware that there was an old thread regarding the same issue. Hence, I created a new one.

I request u guys to stop arguments. I think they know the dude behind it but the problem is his IP address is dynamic and not static, so they can't ban him permanently. But they r doing their best and they r deleting all those IDs asap.

So the best thing would be just ignore them as u ignore SPAM mails in ur mail account.

Had i been given a Control here, i would disable Banned Members in Online List. Those ID's are there for like 2 months and banned since the same time. Even though they are banned they are showed in Online List which is the deault setting....should be changed now

That guy is a compulsive spammer. I have some information about him. He was a member of Chip-India's forum who called himself "krazy4u". Then for some reason he went crazy and started revolting against Chip and started spamming their forums. He even started advertising Digit's forum on Chip. When the Chip members began ignoring him, he shifted his headquarters here. Here is some info about him:

NAME : MADHU SUDHAN B
DOB : 1980
QUALIFICATION : B.SC.,[P,M.CS] nothing further. I have learned c++, unix, sysbase, etc., from NIIT[1999]
Job details : I am neither employed nor I am trying seriously. (his own words)

There was really no need for this thread, and I'm well aware of this problem. Every once in a while, this idiot crops up and creates these IDs; thankfully he can't post because he uses a junk e-mail ID and can't go through the e-mail confirmation process.

I delete these IDs when as and when they come (as I have done just a minute ago), but unfortunately he's on a dynamic IP so I can't IP ban him. The best route is to just ignore it and go about your business. I visit the forum at least once a day, so the chances of any such ID lasting more than 24 hours is negligible.

but even then one can use http://temporaryinbox.com/ and create temporary ids which will cause them to post here...

sorry am not giving him an idea
