I voted for Sony as its very popular but i really respect Philips, though not in list but if it was, i would have voted for it. Its the only brand which don't make hype of its product, just make good products. Biggest example is an ordinary bulb which last more than any other brand of bulb.

^^ Yes. Even people who've never used a pc or ever heard of internet know the Sony brand. From small Walkman's to hi-def LCD displays, they make everything. Most of the people have used or atleast heard of one of Sony's products. Same can't be said about Google. Or Microsoft. And for most people, Apple is the name of a fruit.

The world's biggest brand should be Pepe Jeans. Why? I have Pepe Jeans purse and I keep it with me all day long.

All Brands are big. Its just the point from where you view them makes the difference. There is no criteria really for judging the bigness of a brand.

Apple products are not for masses and they are for the high-end community.

In India, the market is in the hands of brands that can make ultra low product to somewhat high end products.

eg:

Mobile phones: Nokia that has phones from Rs.2k to Rs.40k

home appliances: LG and Samsung : that has product at every price

and Apple can't compromise on quality for price and We cannot afford the price tag of apple products.

Hence they are not targetting India.

afaik, Apple's prime countries are US and then UK, Japan, Australia, China, France, Germany, South Korea.

That is because (generally) people in India look at the price first and then at the quality (if at all). Apple cannot sell to such a demographic. For Apple to make a sale, the quality of the product should be the top priority for the customer. Unfortunately, that is not the situation in India.

However, I really think they should at least do some advertisement in India. iPods sell well even in India. If there were some cool and funny advertisements on television, I'm willing to bet a lot more people would be attracted towards the company.
