Hearing from two days, north india facing power crisis due to grid failure

So is there long power cuts in delhi and other cities?

Though there is 2 hours power cuts in hyd now.

The collapse has left more than half of
the country powerless. Essential
services and public transport systems,
including Railways and the Delhi
Metro were also hit.
"Grid incident occurred at 1300 hrs
affecting the northern grid, eastern
grid and north-eastern grid -- System
Under Restoration," National Load
Despatch Centre (NLDC), under the
Power Ministry, said in an update.
About 22 states and union territories
have been impacted by the failure of
the three grids. The northern grid
covers nine regions -- Punjab,
Haryana,
Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh,
Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, J&K
and Chandigarh.
At least six states are covered by the
eastern grid. They are West Bengal,
Chattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa
and Sikkim. Meanwhile, the north
eastern grid connects Arunachal
Pradesh, Nagaland, Assam,
Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and
Tripura.
"We are busy with the revival right
now... Both the Northern and Eastern
grids have collapsed. Please allow us
to address the problem," V.K.
Agrawal, the general manager of the
northern grid, told AFP.
The government said the northern,
eastern and northeastern grids were
hit, wider than Monday's blackouts.
Delhi's metro system came to a halt
and office buildings ran on backup
generators a day after a 12-hour
blackout caused commuter chaos in
Delhi.

^^Yes, after saving Delhi yesterday, Kolkata got into same thing. But not whole Kolkata, some parts is affected due to this failure. Specially the Railway.

Powercut from 1PM, Govt. declared holiday.

Companies can't afford power failure. So they have huge power generators and inverters to give thousands of mega watts of electricity.

Btw, I was at Gurgaon, heard from dad there's this huge power outage and even metro rails are closed. But thankfully when I boarded the train just now, it's working!

Well, situation went too bad here.

Both Howrah and Sealdah went off, and all the train passengers came to road for Bus and Auto which ofcourse they never can handle.

Things went worse when Traffic Lights stopped due to power problem, and traffic police couldn't manage it manually. And the whole city got into Jam.

People returned home by walking. (Including me )

Its funny how media hypes such power blackout.Its not so easy
to find the solution of fault in such complex grids.

Moreover cnn ibn people were showing a india map and
reason of collapse of grid was because of frequency of power.
They displayed it was transmitted at 49 Mhz !.
(its 50Hz ...do they even know what M stands for?
i guess they got obsessed with 2g scam news)...

WTH?... media should not talk about thing they dont know
