my bro in US (Utah) needs to send a dvd to me in delhi and the chepect option availabe by local post is $70. which is actually very costly. please suggest cheaper ways to chip to india.

Yes, go for it. Ask him to make it a torrent and share it in TPB or any private tracker...

Make an ISO, make a private torrent, or set up FTP from his PC, and download and burn here -- ISO will help ensure that it's an exact copy, in case it's bootable or something.

If it's licensed software, first check to see that you're legally allowed to make a backup.
