Hi,

Mods: This is not a spam. TISA is a non-profit organization for stutterers/stammerers. I am posting this on their behalf, for the benfit of stutterers on this site.

We are a group of Indian PWS( People Who Stutter). Through our own experience and other people's, we have learnt that self-help groups can play a very important role in overcoming stuttering.

Therapy can only make us fluent in a controlled environment, but to implement it in real life we have to practice it with real people and that's where self-help groups come into play.

TISA co-ordinates city-wise self-help groups and also gives a platform to discuss and share your problems.

Please visit www.stammer.in and register yourself. In addition to SHG (self-help group) activities, you'll also find many other resources there.

Hi,

The Indian Stammering Association (TISA) is organizing a public awareness initiative in collaboration with British Stammering Association (BSA) on stammering in India in February 2010. Mr Keith Boss from BSA is visiting India in February 2010. He is a board trustee of the British Stammering Association (BSA), board director of the International Stuttering Association (ISA) and Chair of ISA Outreach. His mandate is to raise awareness about stammering in society, in collaboration with TISA.

His program is as follows:

At Delhi:
13th Feb (Sat): Informal Interaction with PWS, their families, friends, speech therapists etc.
14th Feb (Sun): YWCA, 9.30 am- Conference on stammering and approaches to self therapy.
15th Feb (Mon): Extra Activities and evening flight to Pune

At Pune:
16th Feb (Tue): Extra Activities in Pune, with Surat & Mumbai SHG members
17th Feb (Wed)- One day conference at Pune (Infosys or TCS?):
