Default India not Good at Broadband speed after 3+year (UP/DW)

I just check the broadband ranking of INDIA at speedtest site i get shocked that it is now more than 3 years of broadband (ADSL2+) in INDIA but still INDIA is very far less in both download and upload speed as compare to other countries. As u all ready know that the both download and upload speed is very low in india and even the ping rate is very high. As even u cannot play online gaming at such high ping rate. If u want higher broadband speed in india it is also very high (UNLIMITED PLAN). and broadband company says they provide upto 2Mbps and 8Mbps and 16Mbps with crapy downloads limited like (400Mb or 20Gb and so on) and unlimited plan price are so high that a common person can't imagine of it and the condition of phone lines are also not very good

So what's new? 2007 was labelled as a year of fraudband. We did not improve in 2008 and 2009.

We tech guys should revolt or perform a mutiny so that Govt of India hears our cries and increase the bandwidth.

Actually i think they should at least raise the minimum broadband to 588up and 588down (UNLIMITED) so that user can get at least 512Kbps UP and 512Kbps DOWN. As i notice that even at 2Mbps connection that video at youtube don't run smoothly (HD VIDEO).
But for normal video at youtube 512Kbps is good. But with speed we want a good pricing of broadband also.

yes. I got call from Airtel asking me to upgrade from 384kbps to 1Mbps and that they have offer running. 1Mbps unlimited at 1699 per month. Am currently paying 1199 per month for 384kbps. am considering this offer to move to 1Mbps.

I think that if 1Mbps price comes down to 999 or 1099, the usage will increase a lot.

^A veru crucial observation indeed!!!! Just look at the telcom sector where still network is slow and iffy and the companies dont want to upgrade their infrastructure at all despite it being overloaded with increasing user base. Talk about milking the cow to its death. The govt is sold out.

@a_rahim, Airtel is doing lot of infrastructure upgrades these days and also server upgrade. I was told that IBM took over the server side infrastructure in Airtel.

Well thats a nice plan coz the fair usage policy limit is 100 GB which is sufficient i think

I just perform test of ping (packet lost) and now again very disappointed average packet lost in india is between 20% to 30%

Q: What is "packet loss (%)?"
A: Packet Loss measures the reliability of a connection. A known chunk of data is sent to the router and then the router is supposed to send the same data back unaltered (echo). In the case of something like ping, several packets are sent out over the course of a couple seconds. So, if 10 packets were sent out, but only 8 made it back, then that would be 20% packet loss; so the more packets that are sent, the more accurate the picture of what the actual packet loss is. In a perfect world 0% packet loss is what we all want - every packet we send out makes it to where it's supposed to go. In reality, some packet loss is probably going to happen, but as long as it is under 5% or so you shouldn't even notice. So just remember that the higher the packet loss percentage, the slower the connection will work because in most instances it has to send the same piece of information several times.

This result is for www.yahoo.com

@Desibond I also got a call from Airtel offering me a 2Mbps unlimited plan at 2999. I'm paying 2222 for my current 1Mbps plan so 2Mbps unlimited for 2999 isn't a bad idea. I've applied for it.

Majority of us can only afford a 256 kbps unlimited connection and that's not even sufficient for video streaming. While i download via torrent, i limit my upload speeds, and i shut down the torrent after it's done.

And How can we seed torrents at such annoying speeds?
When we are not even able to download sufficiently.
