Online Payment Doubt

I was doing an online purchasing (for the 1st time), using a debit card..Now when I reached the final processing option after entering the required details for transaction a popup came saying that information would be visibile in an unsafe page in "the site from where I made this purchase". A bit worried I clicked the cancel button..So what on cyberworld was happening there..?? Are these transactions secure or not?

u use a debit card???...thats a bad idea...

Use ur CC... try to make a temp CC for online use..just call the customer care they will do it for you... use that..after a single use that card will expire...

Why debit card usage is a bad option..?? I was shopping on indiaplaza.
Secondly can someone give a credit card usage idea for dummies, like which one to
pick and the formalities kinda details.

first of all... ppl dont usually use Debit cards..most CC's..or i know of...

try using CC's with online usage like i said...it be cool.. the bad things abt using both is apparant risk..so try to avoid it...thats all..

Use Visa ones... which bank you use??.... apply for that....

If you are unlucky using DC for online purchases, the thief can clean all your standing account balance. But with CC, you will atleast have some insurance protection.

Yesterday i received a mail from HDFC bank to update my account details, though no one in my family has a HDFC account. I followed the link and it directed me to a chinese domain.
Sp i typed my username: India###k
password:china

SO tip no. 1 for dummies:Always check the web address.If you are going through transactions, you should see https(http secure) instead of http. otherwise you are probably digging your grave.
This is important, as the majority of online cheaters are not capable to work in secure protocols, unlike banking companies,mail servers, etc.
beside that, your online transactions are secured by 128bit encryption.Hence its quite secure.
Rule 2 for dummies: Always validate the online shopping plaza .
