hacking and all sh** are not allowed here..but..i can help you..i'am a network admin.there is lot of ways to acces your hard disk by the owner of the connecton..but in normal case without your permision(ie sharing your drive permission) hw cannot access you harddisk.or blah blah..so at first check whether the owner of connection is a pro..then second..in normal case he cannot account on you for the unauthorised access..but these all are in normal case..but if he came to know about his bandwidth leakage then he can wasily identify your bandwidth usage by your ip address..(ie. 192.168.......blah blah)so dont exploit much..then he will feel some doubt..for more info pm me

i have stopped using it anyways...........but i think a lot of ppl here are using these type unsecured wifi conn.......i used it only because broadband for business users are very expensive here......also i go to my room only to sleep and for other basic necessities....(also my room mates are old idiots who don't no a **** about computers and tech) so getting internet at home is also not worth it.............i asked about HDD access issue only because i found some files were missing from my HDD even when I am damn sure i have copied it into my new lappy's hdd.....now browsing using a dialup....
