How abt the Kodak ZD710 , its ~11k i think , and its got almost complete manual control.
with 7.1 MP and 10x Optical Zoom.

You could also opt for the Fujifilm S5800 which has similar specs.

My my. The Kodak is a real nice camera. Thanx for that advice.

As I needed a simple point-and-shoot (for family use), I bought Sony W110, 4X Optical Zoom, 7.2 MP. Takes pretty good shots, affordableat around 8k, fairly new model, has smile-shutter which is a cool and practical feature. I thought not-to spend too much as the need was a simple point-and-shoot from a reputed company(Sony means good for Dad )

But, I will have to buy a Mega Zoom SLR(i.e having a lota manual options) kind later for my use. I will think about the Kodak or maybe a Canon 10X Zoom camera as Canon cameras can be modded with hacks.

The thread may end here as the purpose is complete.
