Default Tripod for Camera - things I should look for - Suggestions please

I know someone will ask me to move this thread

But as tripod is related to Digicam I think its not that bad idea to post the thread here ! lol

Anyway, I am planning to buy a tripod for my digital camera tomorrow. Not a costly one, do not need a very professional one either. Something decent.

I already read this

Is there any other thing I should take care while buying it ? Like I know the bubble level helps, then the materail should be good quality etc. Any other points to check ?

Also, is there any brand for these ? Or that does not matter at all, just go for a good quality one ?

Any suggestions ? Will buy it in 24 hrs.

Bubble level helps but its not a neccessity unless you are a professional and need absolute level.

If you need to lug it around, make sure its light (as if you already dint know ) Aluminium or some such alloy tripod should be lighter compared to some plastic ones. You will also need to keep in mind that the tripod has a good carrying handle and/or a carry bag which can be slung on your back.

I have a Velbon, 90 cm high. Now its nice matte black finish in solid plastic. but its li'l short for many purposes and heavy. Good for indoor use. I think a 5 feet high tripod should be good for most situations.

The very important one is the head balls. You can't get any fluid head for your budget. Go to the shop and test all the availables and choose the one with good balls. Tripod head determines your Pan and tilt and the quality of your shots.

Yes, Bubble level is a a must as its not cost anymore...
