Nokia 7610 Problem

I had purchase a Nokia 7610 2 months ago . My problem is that after about i month of use ,the data cable is not responding when i plug it into the mobile ,i rechecked the drivers ,and reinstalled it but the problem persist . that is the usb connection remain inserted but when i insert the cable phone end to phone ,tthe usb icon in phone do not show up ,and a message saying "USB device malfunction" come in computer screen. however if i press the cable tightly into the mobile it works ,but then it has to be hold ed up in that positionif i press the cable tightly into the mobile it works ,but then it has to be hold ed up in that position ,which is very uncomfortable ,i still have my warranty ,and the cable was supplied with the box.]

however when i plug in the headphone( provided with it) in the same slot it sometimes show "Enhancement not supported" but works 90% in all cases

however nowadays the data cable work depending upon probability,ie it may show sometimes or it may not work .Recently when i pressed it hard against the phone it rebooted it

What should I do?

Strange! My 7610 is working absolutely fine, no problem like that... It may be a faulty piece... If the phone is under warranty take it to the Nokia doc, they might replace it...

I too had the same data cable problem in my Nokia 3230, it would not display the USB icon on the phone and would give me that message about malfunction..

I changed the data cable and things were fine after that..May be you should try the same..

About the headset thing, a friend of mine has this trouble, the phone (7610) doesn't recognize the enhancement, but that gets corrected only if he uses a single earpiece headset..

Exactly exactly thats what i think,because if my phone had a problem no attachment should work ,i will try that. in fact i noticed today that in the phone end of the cable ,one pin is very shorter than other ie it looks like it has been pushed inside .i think it may be malfunction

by the way they give single earpiece by default

try the same on another machine or simply replace the cable
