buying a phone under 18k
hey guys
need your help, i am going to buy a new phone, my budget is upto 18k max(the less the better)
1. Budget?
18000/-
2. Display type and size?
bigger the better
3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?
bar
4. Preferred choice of brand?
not brand conscious, anything VFM
5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).
Touchscreen
6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.
not much of a camera guy, will be happy with whatever i get, as long as i can click some decent pics sometime.
7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
no preference but i would like something stable, reliable.
8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?
Texting, Calling, Internet surfing while traveling, Sometime music, a little bit of photography(clicking pics of freinds etc)
9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
nah not really, i was thinking about getting iphone 3gs or any windows phone. not sure about android as i think that it is laggy and battery life is not good, please clarify.
10. Any other info that you want to share
-want something reliable and stable
-future upgrades are not a deal breaker as long as the current firmware is stable
-should have good battery life
-larger screen size would be a plus
-should be VFM
-not keen about apps as i already have an ipad for playing game, watching movies and apps.
Thanks in Advance"If you give someone a program, you will frustrate them for a day; if you teach them how to program, you will frustrate them for a lifetime."

Re: buying a phone under 18k
I got to know from a friend Sola has got issues with backup and battery. He went for S advance over Sola just because of this reason.
But then Samasung advance is again known to have issues over reception/network, because of problems related to switching b/w 3G/GSM n/w. So watch out there too.

Re: buying a phone under 18k
Was also planning to buy a phone in this range. My only requirement is that it has a removable battery (which will allow me to carry an extra battery) and expandable memory (which rules out most of the sonys). The HTC one V is good but it has a single core processor compared to the dual core of the rest, how will this affect performance and its futureproofness

Re: buying a phone under 18k
avoid the iphone because apple has plans to discontinue it...
sola and one v have non removable battery but both DO have expandable storage.
i would have suggested xperia neo v/neo l but then neo l dont have radio
only thing that comes to my mind is s advance but ics isnt guaranteed and zero developer support.
then is atrix 2 but motorola is shutting down asia operations.
the only thing that remains is xperia sola.- Tapatalked from my Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5630.

@ bhushan05d251
Also add to the list -
Non existent community support
Poor reviews across the board ( one of the lowest rated smartphones by users on Flipkart and many other sites)
Network issues
Poor build quality
No 1080p recording/playback
The Jellybean update promise was made by Samsung regional Facebook admin, so it really has to be taken with a bag of salt. Especially going by Samsung past track record in updating their mid range phones.SONY make.believe :D | BRAVIA | VAIO | XPERIA | CYBERSHOT | WALKMAN | ALPHA | PLAYSTATION | HANDYCAM | XPLOD
