New Nokia 5800

this was posted in another forum .

There is lots of confusion going regarding 5800 so i thought should clarify some doubts
ok guys 5800 is now available for just 13.5k but at this price nokia has silently removed many things.
1.no extra stylus
2.no pouch
3.no stand
4.no tv out cable
5.no tv out feature as well(ya its true i have confirmed it they have removed the tv out feature)
there is small notice on back of the box saying tv out mode is not supported and inside the box also saying tv out fmode is no longer supported please ignore any settings see the pics

even the nokia india website also confirms this see the box content and also no mention of tv out in the specifications.the page for 5800 is also updated

so actually at present there are two versions of this phone available one which is old which has the accesories and tvout feature and the new version which doesnot has it.the new version is the stock from august onwards.so you may be lucky to get a 2-3 months older with all the accesories and tv out feature but depens from where you buy and till there is stock left.as far as the new 5800 is concerned all those accesories and tv out feature is removed but what they have added is
1.you get voucher of 100 songs downloadable from nokia music store
2.3months of voice navigation is still there
3.newer firmware v30 out of the box

so just check out before you buy 5800 box and if you are lucky you might get one older stock with all accesories.

so actually nokia is cutting down things to cut down prices.it will be interseting to see that 5800 sells for 13.5k whereas 5530 will also sell around 13k.

5800 without tv out feature will be ok for most of us.....other features like wifi,3g , vga recording , update firmware are much needed
BTW 5530 dont have 3g and tv-out

I bought nokia 5800 Xm older model with all accessories included at same price 14.7k[12.5 vat]

Stay away from priority dealers they are selling older model for 17.6k

Black/grey color is newer model and doesnt include the accessories and tv out feature.
So ur options are red/blue color if u r lucky to get older model of course

For me tv out feature is very good feature and couldnt have missed out that and if getting at same price nothing better than that

... feel a lil bad about it but it still is cool ... i wud want my fone to have all the features ...

guys i am getting 5800 at 13.3k but its the new one without accesories and tvout feature,looked in few shops but same model everywhere.so should i go with this one at 13.3k.well for the price without tvout and accesories it seems ok what do you say should i go with it?

I would suggest to look out more if u can get older model with all accessories included.I searched for 2 days and got one at the mobile store at same price.

Both 5800 and N79 were the recent price drop by Nokia..So there is some change made in 5800 as the price fall...wat abt N79 is there any change or down grade in this phone???

i think the last price was around 14k-14.5k,not sure that there is any reduction after that and i dont think they have removed any thing from n79

When i bought 5800 @ 18.9k , i compared it with other touchscreen phones (mostly win mo , like touch diamond etc) and thought that i got a great VFM phone . Its funny How time changes .

Btw , the thing i miss most in new package is the 'Stand' . It was quite a unique touch.

Stupid Nokia. Why the hell they did so?

TV-out is one feature which I really use a lot in my Nokia 5800.

Edit #1: I just had a talk with Nokia care person. They say that the new stock will again start having the TV-out feature. Don't know whether they are correct or not.

Edit #2: Turns out that they are n00bs. :/

@new buyers, why not just try and use a TV-out cable and see whether it works or not?

ya i also got the same answer from nokia care person and he does not know when the stock will be available.if will put tvout again what was the point of removing it at first place.
and second important point is will the new stock bw priced at 13.5k or it will be priced same as 15.6k which was 1week back.

my situation here is if you go to buy 5800 there are two versions available new one priced at 13.5k and older one with all accesories and tv out at 15.6k.
i looked in many shops today most of them have only new one and some which have old stock are selling it at old price 15.6k.
want to buy one but dont know what to do, are those accesories and tvout feature worth 2k extra?

tv out features are not there in any nokia mobile of new stock..
it is a decision taken by nokia india ..
so forget about tv output feature.
i ve bought 5800 from nokia priority dealer..
bought a pouch
they have given plectrum free....

Dont beleive them! Thats impossible! I mean why would they take such a decision! If they remove the tv out feature from every phone then they have to reintroduce it again cause many people will like to have that functionality!

I would give plectrums as change if I were a touch screen phone seller.

I feel the placturm easier because i dont have to pull out the stylus .

Just keep ur nails silghtly bigger and u'll have no problem. I ONLY use placturm when browsing webpages to click on very small links.
