Even i had this problem when i wanted to put up a LAN card, when i put in the fourth slot. My system did not even boot, it hanged after the user selection menu.

This is what i did:
1. I removed my Modem (internal).
2. Fixed my LAN card in that PCI slot.

And it worked now. Just change the PCI slot as sourabh said.

But, u say u want already have a LAN card installed..., so i guess it may conflict with the other one, but i am not sure.

well i guess this has nothing to do with the onboard 10/100 or gigabit LAN

coz i faced the same prob in office working with the modem and the pixelview tv tuner card on a 845GEBV2 motherboard which doesnt have onboard LAN
