Default Landline problem

It's strange that my landline is dead but when I dial my landline number then it gets connected to someone else's home. And when I asked their number then the number was different.

What is happening here ?

Had same problem...your neighbour had a disconnected line....you also had....the telephone guy connected your line to his......

Call 1500 or 1503 and lodge a problem...

Be quick to fix it.....or your bill is gonna be heavy.

^^But the other person to whom ring is going is not in the neighbor. More than 6-7 kilometers distance. Some thing went wrong at exchange itself.

How do i know the date from which this problem started ?

^^done that,

funny thing is that the telephone number are cyclically same if you left shift by two digits.

e.g.
Mine is
020-27859120

And the number who's picking up is:
020-20278591
