Our dear friend here had asked about sites to download free songs, it seems he just simply changed the subject which inturn is causing all the confusion here about legal & illegal matters. :)

i'll come to the point !
try NETMETER. it will giv u the actual download speed. the maximum speed is usually mentioned by the providers in their glossy brochures.

Also u might wanna try the mcafee speedometer and ZDnet test you ISP speed.

zdnetindia anyways tells the speed by downloading a small file. testspeed.com too.
