ajooba215: When asking for help with a problem like this, you should give all details of your configuration, plus a detailed account of what you have done and tried and the results. Your initial post is too vague.

certainly OS prob, the disc you are using is XP Service Pack 2 disc if I am not wrong, and that too pirated one, LOL. Get another XP installer.
Check your mobo specs for the exact audio drivers.

Since you're using an nvidia gfx card on an Intel mobo with 945 onboard gfx, it's possible that there's a driver conflict. I know the problem is with sound, but still..... You still have not supplied all details. Are you using the Intel Express Installer? Which installation options did you select? At which point does it report installation failure? Which OS? (Acewin guessed XP SP2, but you have not confirmed it or otherwise). Did you install the OS and drivers from CD or from hard disk? What does Device Manager show?

install the Chipset: Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility for Intel® Desktop Boards (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=2766&DwnldID=10884&strOSs=44&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional&lang=eng)

hhmm....alright...i installed os and drivers from the disks....and no..i don`t think its intel express installer...its magic install or something after autoplaying the motherboard`s cd....and the abortion...it occurs when realtek installation bar is just about to complete..i can`t locate the exact point...its kinda smaller window with realtek as header besides the normal installation window....and it fails at that point....and yes...its xp sp2...i tried to manaully install the drivers instead of chosing autoplay...and i succeeded in installing realtek sound manager....but the set up for OS is refusing to install....

install the "Chipset Software Installation Utility " (post #10) & then try.

besides you can also try most of the common audio drivers from the chipset family of 945, generally they are realtek audio.
