problem in dvd writer

i hv dvd writer.. its is working properly when i insert dvd but it shows nothing when i insert cd...where is the problem?is their any hardware issue..or software......?

check the connectivity with motherboard of dvd writer

Try any other cd on it, look it's taking proper driver for dvd or not..........;)

your dvd drive make?
i think the dvd drive has diff lens for dvd and cd so the cd lens is having a problem
the things that u can try to resurrect it are cleaning the lens with a cd lens cleaner or claim warranty if it is still under warranty

is ur drive a samsung one !! and yes, do get a CD lens cleaner, phILIPS CD lens cleaner is available in the market for Rs.120/- :)

I once had this same problem, and after getinng a CD lens cleaner, everything was working fine.. :)

What is your DVD model no? I am having Sony DRU190A DVD writer and have the same problem. My friend said that the laser might be a problem. when I insert a dvd, it is not even trying to read it. I have returned it to the service center. Need to wait till it returns.
