There will be no problems with another HDD on your system as long as there are free SATA/PATA ports available and enough power is present to run the hardwares. :)

you didnt mentioned the single most important components that could decided whether it will be sufficient to run the HDD to be added and that is the power supply

Your PC will support 500GB HDD.
And if u face noticeable differences in comp. speed ... Add another 1GB stick.

Let Me Clear That Currently I Have 160 + 80 GB = 240 GB + 500 GB == 740GB

Ya... Thats fine...
If there are free SATA/PATA ports .. there will be no problem.

If 740GB is filled properly ... Then accessing the contents will be slow.
So for better experiences add another 1 GB RAM.

I do not think anything will be slow, just like that.
There is something called management.
Your system performance will generally depend on primary drive on which OS is there or which is in use for playing games or watching movies.
which drives are in use i.e if you are doing data transfer.
In short no need to really worry.
Rest people ahve already said or asked like PSU wattage(400W good enough for running 4-5 HDDs also with the config you got, you have low power consuming config) and how much each HDD is filled. and no of availability of SATA/PATA ports
Check your power consumption from http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
I saw realdan has mentioned about partitions, Varad, partitions are for managing your HDD(not physically but logically), and yes more partitions would decrease performance

Even If I Add One More 1GB Stick. Then Also The Performance Will Decrese.
In Total Now I am Having C:/, D:/, E:/, F:/, G:/,H:/ All Are 40GB's. The Last Two Are Of My External HDD. Can You Tell Me Howmany Partitions Are Created Standerdly In 500GB. Iam Planning To Create The Partation 80GB Each. Insted Of 40GB. Of My Present HDD. So That There Will Not Be Too Many Partations. What Do You Think?
Thank You

Your PC will easily support it and there will be hardly a slowdown. I suggest that you better get a Western Digital Caviar 640GB instead of 500GB. It's the most VFM HDD right now.

Ya ....WD 640GB is the most VFM HDD.
But after having nearly full HDD's ... Accessing the contents will surely be slow.
Thats why I recommended to add another 1GB stick.
After that .... Performanc will be fine.

Dont worry too much.
After adding 1GB RAM u wont be dissappointed.
Just take care of the partitions ... I mean dont make too many :!:
2*1GB performs better than single 2GB stick.
So I think u get the point.

Get one more stick so that both runs in dual channel providing better performance. (Seeing that your mobo supports Dual-Channel, check your Mobo specs and tell us if it supports dual-channel or not:) ).

Its for 3.7k.
But since the service center is not in your town ... U should better go for Seagate ...
Seagate's service is pretty good and replacement takes only 3-4days.

Varad, add one more stick of 1 GB it would be OK. In 640 GB make not more than 4 paritions. But if you wanna maek more partitions I hope you know how to make it in XP.
Keep partition sizes big like 200 GB according to your data and how you wanna group them.
Check in the local market, and if they do not give your good price then buy from online site the price is 3600 now, maybe drops more by the time you go n check. heehe

When I had 250+750 (Now the 750 aint working :(), I made only 4 partitions from the whole 1000GB :D. 1 for Windows OS (any), 1 for Linux (later turned it for XP as the other was used for Vista) [Both of this were on 250GB and each was of 25GB]. The other 200GB for data and one whole 750GB partition for data. I dont prefer more partitions :.

generally if you defrag your partitions regularly to reorder them, then access of data from the partitions does note gets as much slowed down.

Serial Advanced Technological Attachment (SATA).
Its the most used HDD technology right now and you should go with it. WD Caviar 640GB is SATA.
SATA2
Newer and a little faster but less used and less supported.
eSATA
external SATA for external HDDs.
I dunno which HDD you are using. Can be PATA or SATA or IDE.
Stick with the above mentioned HDD and you will be fine.

My Current HDD Is SATA. I Have Seen This In My MotherBoard Features:
Peripheral Interfaces Eight USB 2.0 ports
One serial port
One parallel port
Four Serial ATA interfaces
One Parallel ATA IDE interface with UDMA 33, ATA-66/100 support
One diskette drive interface
Can AnyBody Tell Me How Many Sata Ports Currently Iam Having?
And Can I Add One More HDD?
