Hey guys , i have bought the following
E8400 -- 8450
2GB RAM 800Mhz Transcend--1950
400 GB HDD Seagate--3150
Liteon 20X DVD RW drive--2150
Iball Cabinet stock 400W SMPS --1200
For the mobo i wud be buying a Asus P5GC MX 1333fsb with a HD 3450 for 2450 & 2050 respectively . Is the config okay cause i need to go low with the Mobo.
Increase ur ram & power supply
If you want something better at a nice price tehn Opt for AMD else Intel is excellent

Dude the ram's at 800Mhz 2GB .stock 400 w should suffice. Nothing beats a combo of Intel Proccy & AMD graphx . AMD ????? wake up dude. Its 2008 not 2005

I don't think HD3850 is a good buy. Better get a Mercury 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 or the best option would be a 9600GT :).
I don't think 400W would suffice, get atleast a Cooler Master eXtreme Power 500W.
Just some suggestions :).

^^ Are you sure that anything from Mercury is worth it . May be the things have changed at Mercury but they used to be worst than the cheap chinese non branded imports.
Well , i wont be using SLI or anything as such . If the stock gfx is good enough for my requirements then no gfx card . Though i seriously doubt that . Hence the 'HD 3450' .
But i cant make out why the extra 100 W power for

@Kpower, rakesh is right he really would not lead to change his PSU the stock iBall PSU will suffice his reqs. he is not opting for high power GPUs
@rakesh yesh Mercury or MSI GPU Kpower suggested is worth the price otherwise u can go for Palit/POV/XFX also, and he is refereing to 256MB DDR3 model of 8600GT.
Think again of the mobo, I think you have not checked the specs of the mobo properly, u r buying 800 MHz FSB RAM for a 533 FSB mobo,
n why r u going for older chipset mobo when u can easily get better chipset mobos in less than 3K

Get XFX 630i for 3.1k
desiibond
15-08-2008, 09:53 AM
1) Get MIS/Palit/eVGA 8600GT. Don't get XFX as it is runs very hot and never ever trust Mercury.
2) ASUS P5GC-MX is not 1333MHz FSB board. It's an 800MHz FSB board. Stay away from it if you want E8400.
as it looks like you are on a budget, My config would be
1)Phenom X3 8450 for 5.5k
2) Gigabyte 780G mobo for 4.5k
3) 2Gb ddr2 800 ram for 1.8k
4) 400 GB HDD Seagate--3150
5) Liteon 20X DVD RW drive--2150
6) Iball Cabinet stock 400W SMPS --1200
7) HD 3850 for 8k or HD4850 for 10k
This config will run most of the games at low settting and run Vista without any hiccup, thanks to the Dx10 onboard GPU.
For Intel:
1) E8400
2) Abit IP35-E
3) nVidia 9500GT
8600 or HD3450 have become old and they will not be useful for long. Get 9500GT or HD4850 or HD3850.

Instead of seagate go for Western Digital WD6400AAKS (640 GB)
Its best bang for bucks.
Instead of Transcend go for either G-Skill, Corsair, OCZ or team

It can handle onboard GPU but for HD4850, you need atleast a 600W to keep the system stable.

FOR EVERYONE I HAVE BOUGHT ALL OF THE THINGS EXCEPT FOR MOBO & GFX CARD . ALSO I AM ON A SHOESTRING BUDGET FOR MOBO & GFX.... ***MAX 5000 OR LESS*** FOR BOTH .
Yeah i know 5000 is very less but due to my other purchases (mobile, Asus EEEPc etc)i am left with very little cash. Also i wud be upgrading mobo & gfx around 14 months from now. Getting XFX 630i is a good option but its not available here .
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Just to help you out: All of these motherboards have PCI-E 2.0 which may be useful for future GPU upgrades. If you don't need RAID, more than 6 SATA ports and only need semi-decent overclocking, check out the DS3L. If you need 8 SATA ports, RAID, 4 PCI slots, and legacy ports, then get the Neo3-Fr. If you don't need more than 6 SATA ports but want RAID, firewire, a second PCI-E x16 port, a second gigabit port, support for 16GB of RAM, optional eSATA, x8/x8 Crossfire, and high overclocks, then get the DS3R. If you like the DS3R but need 8 SATA ports, want an onboard pre-installed fast booting Linux setup, only need support for 8GB of RAM and don't need a second gigabit port, get the Asus P5Q Pro. If you want Crossfire with full x16/x16 bandwidth, get the Lanparty DK X38. Do note that the Asus website can be slow sometimes.

^^^^ Any of the motherboards that u've mentioned don't come within 5000 bucks . Even at newegg all are more then 100$ .
I can't extend my budget by even 100 bucks. Just to repeat I need no RAID , no crossfire , no overclock , no nothing . I just need a barebones MicroATX ( as it wud be cheaper than a ATX) . And a barebones graphics card that can play games upto the year 2006 max. and both of them within 5000 any other things in that price wud be a Luxury .
Just so that you know I wud be upgrading to MSI 45 Neo 14-20 months from now .

^^ A very good board but no dual channel support . Has a very good IGP for its price though . Also Is 8400GS 256 MB DDR2 better than the recently launched HD 3450 256 MB DDR2.
Thanks for the help guys .Appreciate it .
What about my original suggestion of P5GC MX 1333 . Here's the specs for it http://in.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=498&l4=0&model=1768&modelmenu=1 .

@rakesh the mobo you are considering is not a proper for your proccy and RAM, until and unless you OC it.
neither is ASUS P5N-MX suitable for the proccy and RAM
I suggest you consider good onboard graphics mobo based on nVidia 630i chipset like from XFX 630 (price 3.5K) (http://techshop.in/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=1150), Palit N73PV Motherboard (http://techshop.in/store/index.php?cPath=21_30&sort=3a&page=2)(less than 3K), they would be enough for old playing games, saves your money also, so that if you really wanna go for any GPU u can get one whichever you think is good.
7150 onboard GPU is much better than intel x3100 onboard GPU.
In 8400 and 3450, I would say 3450 is better choice.

Thanks acewin , its most likely to be between XFX 630i & P5GC MX if i don't get any other mobo .
wud it cause any probs if i overclock the FSB . Coz i will be keeping the proccy for a really long time .
P.S. : Damn i wish i hadn't paid off my gf's bills.

you really shouldnt have done that for the gf.
The Asus mobo is OC mobo so you can do that, but then it has 610i chipset. So as per my suggestion it would not be worth to OC when you are already getting better stable 630i mobos without OCing in same price. I would say get the Palit mobo. You would be just paying extra for no benefit.

Man, get a good Onboard solution; what do you want? you want to play games that were released till 2006, isnt it? Just put all your money on a motherboard which has a good onboard. i think you can find a Zotac GF8200 or something like that. Later you wont have to upgrade your mobo, just adding a GFX card will do, got it?

you really shouldnt have done that for the gf.
Naah we have been doing that for a while now . this month i went a little overboard with my purchases the Open Moko Neo Runner . & the Asus 901 EEEPc. And also the PC components . So no money for mobo . for GFX was looking at Sapphire HD 3470 256MB DDR3 or Asus HD 3450 256 MB DDR2 anyways (never wud have paid any penny more than 2500 for GFX) no 8400's or 8600's for me (too old) . .
XFX wud be fine but it wud have made no sense for buying the 6xx series mobo ( no dual channel RAM ) if not for the CREDIT CRUNCH. Single channel wud make no difference but still .....
I wud be buying monday evening . Not sure if XFX is available as no service by XFX folks here at my place. Will check out and let you know .
UPDATE :: XFX 630i is not available its a HIGH END mobo they say as its a NVidia Chipset . it will take time after ordering. Also Palit is not available . Should i order the Palit N73PV online . Palit has mixed reviews on the net and it basically caters to the entry level . What about their after sales service.
Also Sapphire HD 3470 is not available anywhere in the country so i wud be buying a Asus EAH3450 256MB look here http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=2&l2=8&l3=634&l4=0&model=2051&modelmenu=2 or a 128 MB DDR3 with a higher clock http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=2&l2=8&l3=634&l4=0&model=2061&modelmenu=2

@ Iron man :: The Zotac GF 8200 is for AMD platform .
XFX 630i is a no go . It's not available here plus the review by oc club said the mobo was just okay. And has 2 yrs warranty as compared to min 3 years by every other manufacturer.
HD 3450 bought @ 2000 although not actually delivered pending the arrival of XFX 630i within 4 days.. . very less chance though
Plzz any other board with good IGP please tell . Going out to market again now .
As regards Open Moko i think that u shud wait till september-december for a stable fware to be out plus the price will go down (diwali). So far im loving it very fast, good connectivity wifi , touchscreens responsive but i love tchscreen phones anyway.
A little expensive at 20000 but worth the price if u r into modding . Will try & post a review after i assemble the comp.

20,000 is kinda expensive for an Open-Source Phone, though as they are starters and as you can do almost anything with it; it's okay, but then again its on higher side. How's signal reception and calling? After all; thats what a cellphone is made for. :)

I cancelled the order for XFX 630i & bought the Asus HD 3450 256MB for 2100 Rs.
So , i have decided on buying the 630i based board either its the Zotac N73PV/PU 7150... the Zotac one seems too good with Firewire + Raid + """ Specially 5 years warranty """ <<--- that's the real deal sweetener . That too for less than 3000 . There are too models N73PU/PV . The PUone has HDMI & SPDIF while PV one doesn't have rest are same .
Also i have kept choices open for XFX 630i & Palit N73PV.

Yus, Zotac and Palit both are comparatively good. Zotac is a new player in the Indian markets while Palit has been around for quite a while. That dosent mean Zotac performs bad. Its a very good company with top-of-th-lot product line. You cant go wrong with either of them. And the chipset (NVIDIA 630) is really a good budget solution. All in all, buy any one of it. I recommand Zotac due to some personal reasons and taking the point that Palit's customer service is a little off the mark in consideration.

Crysis is comparatively old and was optimised more for the C2D flatform (more frequency :) ). But newer games are being optimised for the multi-cores as well as the C2Ds so you will surely get a performance boost.
