CD writer problem

I have a strange problem. When i switch on my computer my cd drive autometically ejected and after some time closed. and this process continuing till i take shut down my computer. i cant understand it is aproblem of hardware problem or a problem due to virus attack.
please suggest me what should i do.

Whats your configuration ? What OS do you run ?
Is the drive connected properly ?

is it samsung drive?

run virus scan to be sure..and update the virus def first

otherwise it is hardware related..probably need servicing
