how to install a software in linux...Like .deb files...pls reply me.....

You didn't give any specific info what software you are trying to install.

FOr rpm distro : rpfind.net.. Rpm distro comes with Add Remove. .Open SUSE -> Yast , Mandriva -> URPMI, Fedora ->
,deb Based Distro -> Synaptic in nearly all of 'em.
Just type the name of the s/w in The adove Add/remove Programs and install them
Apart from that you can try Click N Run. Also the best way is to compile..
./configure
make
make install

Search this section, there was a post probably by Satish S on how to install softwares for major distros and compiling from source.
Is it only me who finds the current thread and http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94937 contradictory?

I think he is using RedHat/CentOS.
