I vouch for the Dell XPS 1530 or the XPS 1330.
For 60k, you should not look at anything else other than a Dell XPS (15.4" or 13.3" is your choice)

Dell XPS series is the way to go. If you are good at negotiating, they can give you a good deal. I know because I got a cool 40% off on their top of the line stuff.

I have seen lot of users reporting issues with XPS series lately like frequent freezes etc.
If not for gaming, VGN-FZ35GN is a good choice, alsocheck HP DV6000 series.
BTW, this one comes with Vista Business preloaded. Try to get it with Vista Home Premium. It will be a better choice for home use.

the freezing issue on XPS is while loading/unloading discs and lasts for only 1 sec. but even the mouse freezes for 1 sec.
but XPS or STudio seems to have better vfm, but less flaunt value than VAIO

I have two more questions..
what's new in Clear Bright High Colour LCD 90
out of the following can anyone suggest which one is better??--
1. NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GT notebook graphics processing unit(GPU)
2. ATI Mobility Radeon™ X2300

Nautica, I am not sure about which one is better, because that again depends on your applications. But from my experience I know that Nvidia has better driver support. And some design applications work well with Nvidia GPUs as told to me by some of my friends who are into CAD and architectural drawings.

It will be a better VFM...
